The diva of the title is a famous black opera singer (Wilhelmina Wiggins-Fernandez) who steadfastly refuses to be recorded. The singer is idolized by young French mail-carrier Jules (Frederic Andrei), who sneaks a tape recorder into the theater and records her performance. This is witnessed by a pair of Taiwanese criminals, who unlike Andrei wish to profit from the bootlegged recording. They begin to pursue the boy, as do a couple of home-grown hooligans who believe that Jules is in possession of some murder evidence. The serpentine plot leads to a warm friendship between Jules and the reclusive diva - and to a brilliantly photographed (by Philipe Rousselot) motorcycle chase through the subway tunnels of Paris. Diva marked the directorial debut of Jean-Jacques Beineix, whose obvious fondness for the more esoteric techniques of the Nouvelle Vague never impedes his willingness to simply entertain his audiences.

Tom Jones - Selection of Tom Jones (1997)
Pop | MP3 320 kbps CBR | 92 min | 212 MB
Label: Golden Sounds | Rel: 1997

This material is culled from The Tom Jones Show, circa 1980 and 1981. Its fidelity therefore fluctuates and is never up to remaster quality. Jones' performances, too, are informed by era. He belts his way through passable, if a bit maudlin versions of "I Love a Rainy Night" and Dolly Parton's "Nine to Five," for example. "What's New Pussycat?" is here; "It's Not Unusual" isn't. There's also the usual jumble of pop standards, performed in Jones' typically overdone style. Highlights include "Twist and Shout," "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "Danny Boy," and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." Jones aficionados might be interested in this set, as the performances are frozen in their 1980s time period. For the casual fan, there are plenty of well-mastered studio retrospectives covering Jones' career.

Vladimir Cosma was born in Bucharest, but even at a young age he moved to France and at first played the cello with Nadia Boulanger, where he became addicted to the genre of "musical illustration."
It is not surprising that the young talent drew the attention of the master of French comedy Yves Robert, and in 1968 Cosmas wrote his first soundtrack for his film "Blessed Alexander." Long-term cooperation with Robert quickly made Cosmas famous comedians in the environment - it works with Francis Weber, Gerard Uri, Claude Zidi and Pascal Thomas, wrote the music for most of the films with Pierre Richard, Gerard Depardieu, Louis de Funes and the other kings of the French comedy.

Chip Taylor - The Early Work  Music

Chip Taylor - The Early Work

Chip Taylor - The Early Work
Singer-songwriter | 4 albums | Flac lossless

Almost everybody knows one of Chip Taylor's songs, but most of them don't have a clue who he is, or how and what he sings. 'Wild Thing' for instance was a giant hit for The Troggs and was even played by Jimi Hendrix. 'Angel of the morning', 'Try (just little bit harder)', 'Anyway that you want me' and 'I can't let go' were also written by him. His own records are just wonderful. His warm voice is great in ballads, but he can also be hilariously funny and humoristic in his laid-back rockers and folky country songs. Here are three of his albums from the early 70's including his masterpiece Chip Taylor's Last Chance and the album Hit Man from 1996 on which he sings all his well known songs and hits scored by others in beautiful stripped down versions.

Slade may have never truly caught on with American audiences (often narrow-mindedly deemed "too British-sounding"), but the group became a sensation in their homeland with their anthemic brand of glam rock in the early '70s, as they scored a staggering 11 Top Five hits in a four-year span from 1971 to 1974 (five of which topped the charts)…
