Although Cream were only together for a little more than two years, their influence was immense, both during their late-'60s peak and in the years following their breakup. Cream were the first top group to truly exploit the power trio format, in the process laying the foundation for much blues-rock and hard rock of the 1960s and 1970s. It was with Cream, too, that guitarist Eric Clapton truly became an international superstar. Critical revisionists have tagged the band as overrated, citing the musicians' emphasis upon flash, virtuosity, and showmanship at the expense of taste and focus.

This 20-song compilation provides an useful overview of groundbreaking work of British psychedelic-blues supergroup "Cream". Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker – virtuosos all – expanded the parameters of rock by incorporating a jazz sensibility into their distorted blues jams. This compilation mixes their odd original hits with a number of souped-up blues covers. The live version of Robert Johnson's "Crossroads" remains one of the greatest blues workouts a rock band has ever produced.

Cliff Richard took the hopes and ambitions of an entire generation – his own – and turned them upside down. "Cliff" this wild young iconoclast's debut album, retains every ounce of that power. Recorded live at Abbey Road studios in front of an invited (and very vocal) audience of fans, its 16 tracks are a representation both of the star's own early repertoire, and the staples of any aspiring rock & roll band of the era….

Pussycat was a Dutch country and pop music group from the Netherlands, driven by the three Kowalczyk sisters: Toni, Betty and Marianne. Other members of the band were Lou Willé (Toni's ex husband), Theo Wetzels, Theo Coumans and John Theunissen. In 1975 they scored a big European hit with the song "Mississippi". However they had to wait a further year for the single to make the British charts when it climbed to number one in the UK Singles Chart in October 1976. Penned by Werner Theunissen, who had been the sisters' guitar teacher, it is estimated that "Mississippi" sold over five million copies worldwide. It was later followed by "Smile" in 1976, and "Hey Joe" in 1978. Other hits were "If You Ever Come to Amsterdam", "Georgie", "Wet Day in September" and "My Broken Souvenirs". Their career in Europe spanned more than a decade and included some seventeen albums…

Pussycat emerged during the 1970s thanks to the musical aspirations of the Kowalczyk sisters – Tonny Willé, Betty Drastra, and Marianne Hensen. Growing up in Limburg, Netherlands, the girls first came to the public's attention as Zingende Zusjes (the Singing Sisters), with a well-received repertoire of German-language songs. Adding a female drummer to the brew, the group completely revamped its sound and changed its name, becoming the BG's from Holland – a direct nod to the burgeoning big beat movement sweeping the country, and the youthful assumption that they would break out of their local scene…
