"Innervisions" is the 16th studio album by American musician Stevie Wonder, released August 3, 1973, on the Tamla label for Motown Records, a landmark recording of his "classic period". The nine tracks of Innervisions encompass a wide range of themes and issues: from drug abuse in "Too High", through inequality and systemic racism in "Living for the City", to love in the ballads "All in Love Is Fair" and "Golden Lady". The album's closer, "He's Misstra Know-It-All", is a scathing attack on then-US President Richard Nixon, similar to Wonder's song a year later, "You Haven't Done Nothin'".

When Stevie Wonder applied his tremendous songwriting talents to the unsettled social morass that was the early '70s, he produced one of his greatest, most important works, a rich panoply of songs addressing drugs, spirituality, political ethics, the unnecessary perils of urban life, and what looked to be the failure of the '60s dream – all set within a collection of charts as funky and catchy as any he'd written before…

The landmark 1973 release from one of the most iconic figures in music history, "Innervisions" is a testament to Wonder’s musicality and brilliance. The soulful concept album encompasses themes of social and urban issues performed, produced, written and arranged by Wonder. Wonder’s expressive and charming funk is showcased on the chart-topping hits “Higher Ground”, “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing” and Living for the City”. The album swings between fanciful and spacious ballads, Latin-tinged hits and full-blown Gospel numbers. The songs themselves are in such contrast that it's hard to believe they all occur on the same album.

Unlike rock bands, dance acts tend to go for the remix collection over the live album when they want to wring out their back catalogue. And, despite the name, Ame's Live is much more in the former mould. Although comprised of live recordings from the past two years, Live is very much a studio creation, with reworked versions of their own "greatest hits" and remixes for the likes of UNKLE and Underworld compressed into one continuous set. It's also ostensibly a celebration of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer's first decade together, but while the form might be fresh, you suspect the motives behind putting it out might be more stale.
