Ion Exchange

The aim of these volumes is not to cover all phases of ion-exchange theory, which may be found in general texts, nor to cover every application in the literature, or to show an engineer ways on how to become an expert in the field so he could do it all by himself.

Various separation membranes have been developed since their discovery over half a century ago, providing numerous benefits and fulfilling many applications in our everyday lives. They lend themselves to techniques ranging from microfiltration and gas separation, to what can be considered as the most advanced technique - ion exchange.

This text aims to offer the best of ion exchange science conducted in the countries of the former Soviet Union. It reviews the multidisciplinary study at the nexus of physical, organic, inorganic and biological chemistries, and progresses from theoretical fundamentals to practical applications in manufacturing, mineral refining and environmental clean-up. The text examines advances and phenomena observed in ion-exchange systems.
