One of the most versatile talents in contemporary 20th Century music, Henry Mancini was arguably America's greatest composer, conductor and arranger. Although he is nowadays perhaps best remembered for big selling LPs of movie and TV scores, he also enjoyed a parallel series of hit singles, only some of which were spun off his albums. This 30 track compilation is drawn from his singles releases between 1956-62 and includes his hits "Mr Lucky", "High Time", "Theme From The Great Imposter", "Moon River", "Experiment In Terror", "Theme From Hatari" and "Days Of Wine And Roses". Also included are Mancini's original, career defining recordings of tunes like "Tana's Theme" (from "Touch Of Evil"), "The Peter Gunn Theme" and "Breakfast At Tiffany's". Several of his early singles, notably "Cha Cha Cha For Gia" (from Four Girls In Town) and "Big Band Rock And Roll" b/w "Hot Rod" (from Rock Pretty Baby) are unavailable elsewhere on CD.

Clarence 'Frogman' Henry has always been a favourite of New Orleans R&B collectors and unlike many of the artists who emanated from that city's vibrant and unique music scene, Clarence managed to break out of Louisiana and score a significant number of pop crossover hits. Contains the hits "Ain't Got No Home", "(I Don't Know Why I Love You) But I Do", "You Always Hurt The One You Love". Today at the age of 79, Clarence lives comfortably in New Orleans performing on occasion, usually at the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival secure in the knowledge the body of work featured on this CD is amongst the greatest to come out of New Orleans.

This package features their two original 1950s LPs plus the majority of their single and EP releases, including, the original version of "Tears On My Pillow", which was a No. 1 hit for Kylie Minogue in 1990. Still performing today, and one of the few groups to enjoy success into the 1970s, Little Anthony & The Imperials are definitely worth a listen and fully detailed liner notes covering their entire career top this set off nicely.

Although producer/songwriter NORMAN PETTY's name perhaps remains synonymous with Buddy Holly & The Crickets, he also worked with plenty of other great artists, notably Roy Orbison & The Teen Kings, Buddy Knox, Jimmy Bowen, Carolyn Hester, Sonny Curtis, Jimmy Gilmer, The Fireballs, The String-A-Longs, The Champs, and a young Bobby Fuller.
All these and many more are featured in this carefully-compiled 36-track collection of Petty's productions, between 1956-62, which also includes tracks by rather lesser-known, cult collectors' artists like Sonee West, Terry Noland, Peanuts Wilson, Earl Henry, The Nighthawks, Jack & Jim, Myron Lee & The Caddies, Larry Trider, The Hollyhawks, etc.

As Lefty Frizzell is deemed to be to be the father of modern country singing, the same thing can be said about Rose Maddox's abiding influence on women in country. From the age of 12, Rose and her brothers Cal, Fred and Henry were 'America's Most Colourful Hillbilly Band', with sister Rose's sometimes plaintive, sometimes sassy voice establishing a template that would be followed by many of the biggest female stars of the 1950s and beyond - among them Wanda Jackson, Skeeter Davis and Jean Shepard.
