A stunning collection of artists and performances celebrate the timeless music of legendary gospel bluesman Blind Willie Johnson. From Derek Trucks’ and Susan Tedeschi’s reverent reading of Keep Your Lamp Trimmed And Burning to Lucinda Williams’ slide guitar-fueled lament in Nobody’s Fault But Mine, from Luther Dickinson’s spirited take on Bye And Bye I’m Going To See The King (with The Rising Star Fife & Drum Band) to Tom Waits’ virtual embodiment of Johnson himself on The Soul Of A Man and John The Revelator, this record is packed with incomparable recordings that speak as much to the greatness of the performers as they do the enduring legacy of Blind Willie Johnson.

This show was recorded at Cleveland's Beachland Ballroom on November 1, 2008, where Glass Harp headlined a benefit concert for Roots of American Music, an organization dedicated to the preservation, performance and education about traditional American music in our schools. This CD finally captures the raw, improvisational energy and spur-of-the-moment creativity that has defined Glass Harp for decades, but until now has been heard only in a live setting and in the memories of the people who saw it.

There is only a slight difference between a street-corner blues singer and a sanctified street singer, since both need to hold a crowd and make a few bucks (no matter what they do with the money when the day is done), and as this four-disc collection of so-called guitar evangelists from the 1920s, '30s, and early '50s makes clear, playing slide for the Lord sounds pretty much like playing slide for the other side. If anything, the guitar preachers represented here might be even more out there and eccentric than their secular counterparts, making this box set a delightful addition to the standard country blues record collection. Blind Willie Johnson, the apex of the guitar evangelists, is well represented here with classic late-'20s tracks…

Sold Out to the Devil: A Collection of Gospel Cuts by the Rev. Scott H. Biram A new collection of Gospel singalongs, oddball hymnal tunes, and traditional religious songs from Scott H. Biram. Known as The Dirty Ol' One Man Band, Biram has a deceiving penchant for songs about God, religion, and spirituality. Each of his releases has some representation of religious fervor and appreciation for traditional Gospel music - just in some cases, Biram spins them in a perverse, hellbound way that only he can. Sold Out to the Devil is a collection of this particular God-fearing side of Biram.

No matter where Big Daddy Wilson travels on this big, beautiful, mixed-up planet of ours, he takes the South with him. Listening to the soulful storytelling of the man born Wilson Blount in a small town in the Inner Banks region of North Carolina, it's impossible not to conjure images of dusty back roads, cypress groves, a Saturday night juke joint or Sunday morning revival meeting. It's a nostalgic and – some might say – glorified image of rural America. Yet in an age of ruthless demagogues and divisive politics, Big Daddy Wilson chooses to celebrate the simple things that bond us as human beings – a smile, a shared meal, a helping hand – along with cherished values like faith, perseverance and devotion to family. For more than two decades, he has been carrying his message of hope and unity to each and every show, whether in New York, Paris, Auckland or – in the case of his new live album Songs From The Road – the village of Rubigen in central Switzerland.

Some bands, like Pearl Jam and Dave Mathews Band for instance, are known for delivering to their fan-base a live recordings of performances. In Gov’t Mule’s case, that strategy of releasing, as much as possible, the recordings (including bootlegs, shows in small venues, etc.) is one of the most pleasant and delightful acts for the Mule’s fans. But, this time, it isn’t just a simple live performance record. It’s from the rawer and notorious era, still as a power-trio with Allen Woody on bass, at the beginnings of the band. As the album’s name makes clear, we’re talking about Mule’s live performance in Georgia, in 1997.

Touring the Angel was a 2005/2006 concert tour by English electronic group Depeche Mode in support of the act's 11th studio album, Playing the Angel, which was released in October 2005.
Pioneering English band Depeche Mode took the underground electronic club sounds of the early '80s and expanded them to stadium-sized levels within a decade, becoming one of the best-selling international groups in the process. One of the first acts to establish a musical identity based completely around the use of synthesizers, they debuted with a bouncy electro-pop spirit which gradually developed into a darker, more dramatic synth-rock style that ultimately positioned them as one of the most quintessential alternative bands of their era.

When Ultra was declared the best Depeche Mode album since Violator, those who said so must have forgotten about Songs of Faith and Devotion. When Exciter was declared the best Depeche Mode album since Violator, those who said so must have also forgotten about Songs of Faith and Devotion, in addition to having found a roundabout way of saying that it was merely better than Ultra. There's no doubt this time: Playing the Angel is both the band's best album since Violator and, more significantly, an album that is near Violator in stature. The biggest clue dropped by the band prior to its release was a quote from Dave Gahan, who said that being in Depeche Mode is better than it has been in 15 years. Some quick math reveals that Gahan was hinting at the Violator era, a time when the band's creativity and popularity peaked synchronously…
