Founded in 2018, the Dream House Quartet is bringing classical and contemporary music into completely new forms as a matter of course. The members can draw on decades of musical expertise: the two piano sisters Katia and Marielle Labèque - one of the most renowned piano duet who have never confined themselves to a single genre - are joined by Grammy-winning guitarist, composer and founding member of The National Bryce Dessner and composer, musician and producer David Chalmin, also on guitar. Together they perform radical commissions from visionary composers and key contemporary works from the past half century.

These works, both written at the beginning of the 20th century, are inspired by the religious rites of ancient times. - The Sacre was thought by Stravinsky to transcribe in music the pagan celebrations of polytheistic Russia when Debussy Dreamed of producing a more heterogeneous picture of the different customs of the world of yore. The two men were friends and maintained a correspondence which suggests that Debussy was fascinated and inspired by The Rite of Spring - whose first at the TCE in 1913 deeply marked the spirits. Thus, in a letter sent to Stravinsky in 1912: "I still have in my memory the memory of the execution of your Rite of Spring at Laloy's … It haunts me like a beautiful nightmare and I try, in vain, to d To regain the terrible impression. Debussy wrote his Epigraphs two years later, in 1914.

Katia et Marielle Labèque, the famous pianist sister duo with a career spanning more than fifty years, release their new album dedicated to the music of Philip Glass, completing his operatic triptych composed between 1993 and 1996, based on the films by Jean Cocteau. After their much-acclaimed recording of Les Enfants Terribles in 2020, the pianists now present the remaining two works in the Cocteau Trilogy: Orphée and La Belle et la Bête, arranged by Glass’ music director Michael Riesman for Katia and Marielle Labèque. Katia and Marielle Labèque will be touring extensively throughout 2024 and performing the program in several markets, including France, Germany, UK and Ireland.

Katia and Marielle Labèque are known for the fusion and duet energy, supporting both the classical repertoire and the contemporary creation.
