Rhino's five-disc box set Respect: A Century of Women in Music was surely assembled with the best of intentions, but it doesn't quite work. First of all, any collection that focuses solely on "the female contribution" comes off as a little condescending, no matter how good the intentions are. Still, the concept has enough weight to make for at least an interesting listen. However, any compilation that spans nearly 100 years and every conceivable popular musical genre is bound not only to be incomplete, but too sweeping to be totally effective. The scope is impressive, as are the featured artists – think of any major female musician and they're likely to be here, unless it's Joni Mitchell (Kim Gordon and Kim Deal are also missing, as are several other similarly minded post-punk rockers and various pop and folk singer/songwriters, but no omission is as shocking as Mitchell's) – but the overall effect is somewhat bewildering.

Poodle Hat is the 2003 CD from music parody master Weird Al Yankovic. This CD was released on 20 May, 2003 and came out as an "enhanced CD", which is included with the lossless files.

"No Night So Long is a 1980 album by the vocalist Dionne Warwick. It was her second album for the Arista label (originally issued as # AL 9526). The album was recorded during the spring of 1980 and was released that July. It has sold over 500,000 copies in the US alone. The album's title track, "No Night So Long" was written by Richard Kerr and Will Jennings, the same team that wrote Warwick's 1979 comeback hit "I'll Never Love This Way Again". Isaac Hayes and Adrienne Anderson contributed another song, "We Never Said Goodbye" (the duo had provided Warwick with "Deja Vu" in 1979 from her previous album "Dionne"). The title track is one of two U.S. charting songs from the album, reaching #23. The other hit, "Easy Love," peaked at #62. Both songs were also hits on the Adult Contemporary chart. "Easy Love" peaked at #12 and "No Night So Long" spent three weeks at #1. This album was reissued on CD by Nippon/Phonogram-Arista in Japan in 1986, but only 500 copies were pressed.

Sebastian Lane is a fierce young guitarist whose roots dig deep into music history. He is the grandson of Blues Hall of Fame legend, Jimmy Rogers, who gained prominence as the guitarist for Muddy Waters before starting his independent career with Chess Records. Sebastian's father is blues-rock hall of fame artist Jimmy D. Lane, who has played with the likes of Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Jim Keltner, Keith Richards, B.B. King, Van Morrison, Jonny Lang, Gary Moore, Double Trouble, Taj Mahal, Stephen Stills, Jeff Healey, Lowell Fulson, and Snooky Pryor, Kim Wilson, Pinetop Perkins, Johnnie Johnson, Kim Wilson, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, David ‘HoneyBoy’ Edwards, Little Hatch, Willie Kent, Henry Gray, Lazy Lester, and of course his father, Jimmy Rogers; just to name a few. But, the truly fascinating thing about Sebastian Lane is that music is actually just his side hobby. His day job is balancing a future career in medicine. He is currently a medical student at The University of Nebraska Medical Center and will graduate with his M.D. in 2019.

Green Mars is the second album release from Viriditas. Like it's predecessor Green Mars is loosely based on the events of the book of the same name by author Kim Stanley Robinson. The music portrays events and emotions drawn from the multitude of characters in the expansive and inspiring book, from the teenage runaway Nirgal on his journey of exploration and self discovery, to the scientist Sax Russel, a diminutive introvert quietly working out a way to thwart the plans of the blundering planetary government.
