Kosmos (2009)

Ajatuksia Maailman Laidalta (2006). Viima started in 1999 in Turku as Lost Spectacles, led by three members of the later Psych/Folk band Kosmos, singer Päivi Kylmänen, keyboardist/drummer Kimmo Lähteenmäki and guitarist/flutist Mikko Uusi-Oukari. Viima play some sort of Symphonic-Folk Rock with minor psychedelic influences and bands like Carol Of Harvest, Rebekka and White Willow are the first reasonable comparisons. The overall atmosphere is mellow and calm despite the constant use of electric guitars. Sprawling space sounds tell stories of far galaxies - the music fuses single intstruments into each other and the sound gets a swirly acid madness. This is psychedelic music without being bound to certain stylistic directions: what matters is the flow. A wonderful soundtrack for a journey to the far out vastnesses of the inner cosmos. Interkosmos was founded in 2008 by Sula Bassana (Electric Moon, Zone Six, Krautzone) on bass, Pablo Carneval (formerly Electric Moon, The Blowing Lewinsky) on drums und Sergio Ceballos (RIP KC) on guitar.

The Finnish progressive rock appreciation and fan society Colossus has been making a rather good name for itself in recent years, ever since it started issuing a line of project releases back in 2000. In collaboration with the legendary French record label Musea, more than a dozen concepts have been conceived, executed and issued. Van Der Graaf Generator is an English eclectic progressive rock band with front man Peter Hammill from 'the classic period' that has proven be one of the most important bands of the progressive genre. An eye-opening trip to San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury during the summer of 1967 inspired British-born drummer Chris Judge Smith to compose a list of possible names for the rock group he wished to form. Upon his return to Manchester University, he began performing with singer/songwriter Peter Hammill and keyboardist Nick Peame; employing one of the names from Judge Smith's list, the band dubbed itself Van der Graaf Generator (after a machine that creates static electricity), eventually earning an intense cult following as one of the era's preeminent art rock groups…
