La Chimera

Simone Rubino and Eduardo Egüez come back together to give life to a new adventure that brings together two worlds united by counterpoint’s technique, which Bach and Piazzolla were two masters, three centuries apart. Simone Rubino with his solar Italianism and Eduardo Egüez, a native like Piazzolla of Buenos Aires, offer us a bouquet of marvellous pieces.

The only surviving version of Carlo Gesualdo’s First Book of Madrigals was printed in Spring 1594 by the typographer Vincenzo Baldini. At the time, the composer was twenty-eight years old and had just left behind the murder of his wife, in 1590. In this first publication Gesualdo probably collected pieces composed earlier than 1591. The music is written by a young author, far away from the better-known experimental composer of later years, yet is clear and faultless, and often very effective.

Frutto di un lungo e accurato lavoro di ricerca, l'appassionato libro di Vassalli illumina l'esemplarità di un destino tragico e ristabilisce alcune verità biografiche su un poeta maledetto la cui gloria postuma va crescendo. Questa vita di un reietto allucinato, in contrasto perenne con la cultura del suo tempo, riafferma la propensione dell'opera di Vassalli a occuparsi di eresie culturali e storiche (i futuristi de L'alcova elettrica , la strega de La chimera ), non per indulgere in sterili ricostruzioni storico-biografiche, ma per sottolinearne la sorprendente attualità e verità.
