Ray Sings, Basie Swings is a posthumous album that mixes previously unreleased Ray Charles vocal performances, recorded at live concerts in the mid-1970s, with newly recorded instrumental tracks by the contemporary Count Basie Orchestra.

The Weekend Starts Here. That was the invite we got when we tuned in to the best music show in the UK, nay, in the world every Friday evening from August 9, 1963 to December 23, 1966. The CD you have in your hands contains 13 tracks from the Animals on RSG, 27 tracks taken off US TV, 9 tracks from French radio, and an interview with Eric Burdon. 3 tracks from August ’65 are by The Animals Big Band; the boys supplementing their stage presence with a brass section - no British band had ever before sounded this close to an American black jump blues outfit. While The Complete Live Broadcasts I zeroed in on the songs, this set captures much of the atmosphere of the group’s live performances. The Animals created dozens of superb tracks across their singles, EP’s and albums between 1964 and 1966 but the best way to experience the group was live. This set is the nearest equivalent to actually being there.

Rhythm and blues was an urban black phenomenon, country a white rural one, but when Elvis Presley cut 'That's All Right' in 1954, the fusion of the genres he pioneered - soon to be dubbed rock'n'roll - gave artists license to blur the line between genres. He led the way for new sounds and styles to arrive in the charts in the '50s from the likes of Bo Diddley, Fats Domino and Chuck Berry, all included here. So pucker up those Lucky Lips, take a swig of Love Potion Number 9 and prepare to Jump The Broomstick like a Juvenile Delinquent.

The Animals - "The Animals On Tour" The Animals' second studio album, The Animals on Tour, is a mixture of blues, R&B and rock n' roll covers with the Eric Burdon and Alan Price Top 20 single "I'm Crying." The Animals On Tour has been remastered utilizing highresolution sources from first generation mono master tapes. Includes liner notes by Rolling Stone Senior Editor David Fricke and the bonus tracks "Baby What's Wrong," "F-E-E-L," and "New Year's Radio Spot."

They weren't brothers, but Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield (both born in 1940) were most definitely righteous, defining (and perhaps even inspiring) the term "blue-eyed soul" in the mid-'60s. The white Southern California duo were an established journeyman doo wop/R&B act before an association with Phil Spector produced one of the most memorable hits of the 1960s, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'." The collaboration soon fell apart, though, and while the singers had some other excellent hit singles in a similar style, they proved unable to sustain their momentum after just a year or two at the top.
