Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan is set to release a live album with the contemporary-classical orchestra, s t a r g a z e, led by the revered German conductor Andre de Ridder. The collabora-tion - which sees Hannigan's sparse, ethereal folk transformed into something cinematic and transfixing - has been taken to select festivals across Europe, and most recently graced the stages of London's Barbican and Dublin's National Concert Hall.

Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan is set to release a live album with the contemporary-classical orchestra, s t a r g a z e, led by the revered German conductor Andre de Ridder. The collabora-tion - which sees Hannigan's sparse, ethereal folk transformed into something cinematic and transfixing - has been taken to select festivals across Europe, and most recently graced the stages of London's Barbican and Dublin's National Concert Hall. Thankfully for those yet to experience the mesmeric live show, their recent performance at the NCH in October last year is set for release in the shape of Live In Dublin, a discography-spanning 14-track live album, which also includes new track, 'Bookmark'.

Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan's highly anticipated new album, At Swim, will be released August 19 via ATO Records. The release follows her second full-length album, Passenger, which NPR Music praised as 'lush and beautiful,' while Rolling Stone furthered, 'Her voice is light and agile, her phrasing like exquisite plumage, and her folksy songs move with deceptive power, sailing on guitars, strings and Irish drama.' At Swim was recorded in New York with producer Aaron Dessner (The National).

The soundtrack is beautiful, but I subtracted 2 STARS because it does not include the faerie song that the old guys with violins play, nor does it include the song that the guy with the long white memory beard sings, so… I was really bummed about that..

Way to Blue: The Songs of Nick Drake Review by James Christopher Monger
Edited down from performances in London, Melbourne, and New York City, the 15 tracks that populate the lovely and inspiring Way to Blue: The Songs of Nick Drake feel far more intimate than the live tag would suggest. Drake's original producer, the venerable Joe Boyd, wanted to recapture the intimacy of Drake's recordings while maintaining the late singer/songwriter's evocative spirit, so any instances of applause have been removed, resulting in a set that feels both wildly unpredictable and incredibly reverent, with highlights arriving via Vashti Bunyan's beautiful, Robert Kirby-arranged rendition of "Which Will," Lisa Hannigan's haunting and spare version of "Black Eyed Dog," and Robyn Hitchcock's kaleidoscopic retelling of Pink Moon's spooky "Parasite."

Herbie Hancock's star-studded The Imagine Project was several years in the making, recorded in seven countries with musicians from all over the globe. Hancock's band with producer/bassist Larry Klein, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, percussionist Alex Acuña, and guitarist Lionel Loueke is a common denominator. Much of what's here is interpretations of well-known pop, folk, and soul songs. That said, The Imagine Project (named for the John Lennon song) feels more like an overreach than a seamless or successful series of collaborations.
