Tone Poem is the third album by saxophonist Charles Lloyd's Americana jazz quintet the Marvels – guitarist Bill Frisell, pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Eric Harland. Cut over several years in California studios and from a Madrid stage, it comprises six covers and three Lloyd originals. The album marks the first time the band have recorded without singers. At 82, Lloyd is a master of the form who knows what he wants from his sidemen and how to get it.

To celebrate his 70th birthday, (March 15th) Charles Lloyd presents his first live quartet album; a really exciting set of music recorded in Basel in 2007 featuring a revamped Quartet now with young stars Jason Moran on piano and Reuben Rogers on bass both making ECM debuts here. The latest offering is blisteringly up-tempo and sensually ballad-oriented and include also a beautiful cover of Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez s tune.

The Singer is a 2CD, 34-song "Very Best Of" collection hand-picked by Art Garfunkel, featuring solo material, Simon & Garfunkel classics, and two performances recorded specifically for this release. Spanning a life’s body of work from the first Simon & Garfunkel album of 1964 (Wednesday Morning, 3 AM) through 2007’s Great American Songbook album (Some Enchanted Evening) and continuing with two newly recorded performances for this release ("Lena" and "Long Way Home"). The Singer includes every #1 U.S. and UK solo hit; “All I Know”, “Breakaway”, “I Only Have Eyes For You”, “My Little Town” and “Mrs. Robinson” (with Paul Simon), "(What A) Wonderful World” (with Simon & James Taylor), “Bright Eyes” and more. In addition to curating The Singer, Garfunkel provides his own personal track-by-track annotations, which appear in the booklet in his handwritten form. The notes are as unique as Garfunkel himself. The voice and soul of a true American poet have illuminated the work of Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Art Garfunkel for nearly five decades.

Bad Vibes, Lloyd Cole's sixth new studio album, marks a big change in terms of sound. Producer Adam Peters and mixer Bob Clearmountain have tried to re-create the experimental days of the mid-'60s, employing a wide variety of studio gimmicks. But if Bad Vibes is Lloyd Cole's most produced record, it also is his earthiest. The singer's voice is recorded (sometimes with echo or double-tracking) especially high in the mix, and his singing is as stylized as it was on his first two albums, though in a different way. Here, he affects a sardonic, disengaged tone. All of this makes Bad Vibes Cole's most varied and most ambitious album, but far from his best. The odd sound stage and attitude are anything but accessible, and Cole himself has rarely been as vitriolic.

Charles Lloyd & The Marvels + Lucinda Williams will release Vanished Gardens, a transcendent new album that presents the fascinating collaboration between NEA Jazz Master saxophonist and composer Charles Lloyd and acclaimed GRAMMY-winning singer and songwriter Lucinda Williams. Together they weave several threads of American music (Jazz, Blues, Americana, Country, and Rock) into a thrilling and uplifting new musical hybrid. The first single “We’ve Come Too Far To Turn Around,” a new gospel-informed song written by Williams, is available today to stream or download. The Marvels are Bill Frisell on guitar, Greg Leisz on pedal steel guitar and dobro, Reuben Rogers on bass, and Eric Harland on drums. Vanished Gardens was produced by Lloyd, Dorothy Darr, and Don Was.

With his newest band The Marvels—a guitar-driven group featuring Bill Frisell, Greg Leisz, Reuben Rogers, and Eric Harland—Lloyd released the 2016 album I Long To See You which NPR called “music that evokes an uncommon state of grace.” Now on Vanished Gardens, The Marvels add a new dimension by collaborating with revered singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams to pioneer a new genre of Americana Jazz that draws on the musicians' many influences and experiences with reimagined versions of Williams favorites, new Lloyd originals, and covers of Jimi Hendrix, Thelonious Monk, and more.
