Soul Jazz Records release flautist Lloyd McNeill’s album ‘Treasures’ (1976). Originally issued on the artists’ own private press Baobab label in New York, the album is a serious collectors’ piece, a heavyweight and fascinating fusion of deep and spiritual jazz sensibilities blended with Brazilian and Latin rhythms and melodies.

Born Lloyd Polite Jr, but known simply as Lloyd, this Stone Mountain, Georgia native is an American R&B/hip-hop singer, songwriter and dancer. He got his first shot at stardom as part of a short-lived, little known boyband called N-Toon in 1996, at the tender age of ten. After the band dissolved, four short years later Lloyd embarked on a solo career. His first album Southside saw moderate success and included the duet with Def Jam label-mate Ashanti, “Southside”. He released his second album Street Love in March 2007 to greater critical and commercial success. The album spun the hit singles “Get it Shawty”, and “You” featuring rapper Lil' Wayne.

Not entirely content with being a 1950s R&B star on the strength of his immortal New Orleans classic "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," singer Lloyd Price yearned for massive pop acceptance. He found it, too, with a storming rock & roll reading of the ancient blues "Stagger Lee" and the unabashedly pop-slanted "Personality" and "I'm Gonna Get Married" (the latter pair sounding far removed indeed from his Crescent City beginnings).
