Hail to England is Manowar's third album which was released in 1984. The album title is a tribute to the country that the American band members met and formed the band in, and in particular the predominantly British NWOBHM that had emerged in the early 1980s. The album was also reported to have been recorded in its entirety in only six days. The album peaked at No. 13 on the UK charts. The album actually features the flag of the United Kingdom on the front cover, and not the flag of England. In 2017, Rolling Stone ranked Hail to England as 87th on their list of 'The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.'

Hail to England is Manowar's third album which was released in 1984. In the early eighties, before the "fame", before the pretentiousness, this band was still able to deliver genuine metal classics and avoid cliches, without having to constantly reassert their true-metal-ness. And it is worthwhile to abstract oneself from Manowar's recent failures and have a listen at what the band produced in that time. After a rock-n-roll influenced debut Battle Hymns and a more fantasy-oriented Into Glory Ride, the band arrived at what was arguably its best effort at the time, Hail to England.

Battle Hymns is the debut album by the four piece Conanic metal band from New York. It is also Manowar's humblest album in terms of posturing, feel and attitude. This may well be attributed to the fact that Manowar still were a rather young band trying to find their niche, but as Joey DeMaio's bass solo "William's Tale" will attest the band members themselves were anything but modest. No, what really keeps the band and this album from banging on the doors of Valhalla is the fact that the true metal warriors still have one foot firmly planted in hard rock. Incidentally, the rock influence is also Battle Hymns' greatest strength.
