The superhero genre gets one of its all-time great entries as Hugh Jackman returns a final time to the role that made him a superstar, in director James Mangold's Logan. The supposed last chapter in the superhero Wolverine's cinematic saga, Logan brings with it an R-rating and a great deal of mystery about the exact nature of the story, how it all plays out for the beloved mutant character, and what it means for the future of the X-Men.

Marco Beltrami (Logan, A Quiet Place, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma) and Marcus Trumpp (The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, Little Evil) have recently composed the music for the upcoming French historical crime thriller The Emperor of Paris (L’Empereur de Paris). The film is directed by Jean-François Richet (Assault on Precint 13, Blood Father) and stars Vincent Cassel, Olga Kurylenko, August Dhiel, Freya Mavor, Denis Menochet and James Thierée. The movie tells the story of Francois Vidocq, a real-life ex-convict who became a police detective during Napoleon’s reign. Eric Besnard (Babylon A.D.) wrote the screenplay. Eric & Nicolas Altmayer (Saint Laurent, In the House, Young & Beautiful) are producing the project for Mandarin Production. Beltrami and Trumpp have previously collaborated with Richet on both Mesrine movies. L’Empereur de Paris will be released this December in France by Gaumont. No word yet on a domestic release.

Marco Beltrami (Logan, A Quiet Place, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma) and Anna Drubich are teaming up to score the upcoming horror thriller Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The film is directed by André Ovredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Trollhunter) and stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn.

Node Records will release a soundtrack album for the National Geographic documentary Free Solo. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (Logan, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, The Hurt Locker, World War Z). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 9 and will be available to download on Amazon. Free Solo is directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi & Jimmy Chin and follows solo climber Alex Honnold, as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: scaling the face of the world’s most famous rock – the 3,200-foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park – without a rope. The documentary is currently playing in theaters before premiering on National Geographic channels in 171 countries.

Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the sci-fi action adventure Chaos Walking. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (Logan, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, Ford v. Ferrari, A Quiet Place, The Wolverine) & Brandon Roberts (The Twilight Zone, Underwater). Chaos Walking is directed by Doug Liman and stars Daisy Ridley, Tom Holland, Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter and David Oyelowo. The movie is based on the novel The Knife of Never Letting Go, the first part of Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking trilogy and takes place in a world where all women have been killed by a germ and all living creatures can hear one another’s thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called The Noise. The film is being released in theaters nationwide this weekend by Lionsgate.

The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (Logan, 3:10 to Yuma, A Quiet Place, Ford v Ferrari, Scream) and Brandon Roberts (Free Solo, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, TURN: Washington’s Spies, The Twilight Zone). Underwater is directed by William Eubank and stars Kristen Stewart, T.J. Miller, Vincent Cassel, John Gallagher Jr., Jessica Henwick, Mamoudou Athie and Gunner Wright. The movie follows a crew of underwater researchers who must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. The thriller is being released in theaters nationwide this weekend by 20th Century Fox.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a 2021 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Venom, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel and Tencent Pictures. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the second film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe and the sequel to Venom (2018). The film is directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel, based on a story she wrote with Tom Hardy who stars as Eddie Brock / Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Brock tries to reignite his career in journalism by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson), who becomes the host of the alien symbiote spawn of Venom, named Carnage.
