or DSD64 2.0 (from SACD-ISO to Tracks.dsf) > 1-bit/2.8224 MHz | Front/Rear Covers | 1,6 GB
or FLAC (carefully converted & encoded to tracks) 24bit/48 kHz | Front/Rear Covers | 812 MB

Rock-solid work from One For All, easily one of the greatest straight jazz combos going, thanks to some tremendous tenor work from Eric Alexander, sweet piano work from David Hazeltine, and snapping rhythms from drummer Joe Farnsworth. The sextet also features Jim Rotondi on trumpet, Steve Davis on trombone, and John Webber on bass, all working here at the height of their powers, and also coming across with a bit more sharpness and soul than even other recent sessions on the Venus label. Arrangements are by all members of the group; the tunes are long and roll out beautifully with a solidly soulful feel — no surprise, given that most of them are covers of classic soul tunes from the '70s.

As influential in its own way as early '70s efforts by Sly and the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, and Marvin Gaye, the Isley Brothers' 3+3 took black music to the next level. Combining frontline vocalists O'Kelly, Ronald, and Rudolph with the instrumental chops of younger brothers Ernie and Marvin, plus brother-in-law Chris Jasper, the group broke out with the smoking single "That Lady," featuring Ernie's Hendrixian guitar. They followed it up with some soulful reworkings of rock songs of the moment (which, as luck would have it, all turned into certified classics), including the Doobie Brothers' "Listen to the Music," Seals and Crofts's "Summer Breeze," and James Taylor's "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight." It's hard to imagine now how daring a strategy that was at the time, but the results sounds as fine today as ever.

Like her 1991 album Pop Pop, this is a mixture of covers ranging from musical classics from the likes of Lerner and Lowe, Hoagy Carmichael and the Gershwin brothers, to classic rock from Steely Dan and Marvin Gaye. The album was nominated for a 2001 Best Pop Traditional Record Grammy Award.

Kevin Mahogany's decision to cover Motown hits in a jazz setting stems from his desire to not only increase the audience for jazz, but to add new material to the music's repertoire, in addition to the established standards. The results are ear-opening, particularly for those who never seriously listened to the likes of Marvin Gaye or Smokey Robinson.

There's a Riot Goin' On is the fifth studio album by American band Sly and the Family Stone. The album was recorded during 1970 and 1971 at Record Plant Studios in Sausalito, California, with sessions dominated by band frontman Sly Stone during a period of drug use and intra-group tension. There's a Riot Goin' On embraced a darker and more challenging sound than the optimistic style of the group's previous records, making use of hard funk rhythms, primitive drum machines, extensive overdubbing, and unconventional mixing techniques. The album's planned title was Africa Talks to You, but it was retitled in response to Marvin Gaye's album What's Going On, released six months before.

Out of Our Heads is the third British and fourth American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones. Although they share the same title, the two have significant differences in the track listings. In the US, London Records released it on July 30, 1965 and it became the group's first number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. Decca Records released it in the UK on September 24, 1965, where it reached number two.
