Six Celan Songs/The Ballad of Kastriot Rexhepi and Acts of Beauty/Exit no Exit are two new recordings that present compelling examples of Nyman's vibrant approach to word-setting, song structure and subject matter. Six Celan Songs/The Ballad of Kastriot Rexhepi couples two of Michael Nyman's major vocal pieces of 1991 and 2001 and two favoured singers of the composer, Hilary Summers and Sarah Leonard. Six Celan Songs is Michael Nyman's most profound song cycle, composed in 1990 for Ute Lemper. Nyman selected six of Paul Celan's less hermetic texts, accidentally, perhaps, all featuring flower symbolism in a kind of 'negative theology', representing Celan's attempt as a poet to come to terms with the impossibility, according to Adorno, of writing poetry 'after Auschwitz'.

For Michael Chapman's early fans, the 1971 release of Wrecked Again, his fourth and final album for Harvest was a return to the glories of Rainmaker and Fully Qualified Survivor. He'd disowned his third album, Window, claiming it was an unfinished series of acoustic demos released by the label while he was on tour for an album he fully intended to be electric. (This bears weight since some of its songs have remained in the songwriter's live set into the 21st century.) Recorded at Rockfield Studios with producer Gus Dudgeon and a band that included bassist Rick Kemp (who had been with him since the beginning), drummer Pique Withers, accordionist Jack Emblow, and a slew of backing vocalists (including Albert Hammond), with lead guitar by Ray Martinez and strings and horns by Paul Buckmaster added by Dudgeon later.

This 1997 Tokyo concert showcases highlights from throughout Michael Schenker's prolific, exceptional career. The rock & roll heavyweight plays songs from his tenure in the Scorpions, such as "Another Piece of Meat" and "In the Search of the Peace of Mind." The wealth of material also features some excellent UFO cuts, including "Doctor, Doctor," "Let it Roll," "Too Hot to Handle," and "Love to Love," while the artist's later work with MSG is represented well with "Into the Arena," "No Time for Losers," and "Feels Like a Good Thing," among others. Known for his characteristic "Flying V" Gibson guitar, Michael Schenker and his band remain the quintessential gods of arena rock.
