A melody inherited from griots encountering hip-hop in Boston streets, the flute of Abyssinian enigma falling for a raging slam. Further on,a Motown beat in a Bamako song, and a dub that slits outer space apart to let vibrating waves pour in from galaxies ever further away. Visions of Selam astounds, as we note the paroxysm of Arat Kilo's power…

The Clovis Limit (Pt.1) mines the deep well of Mike Ross' classic songwriting experience, drawing on the incontrovertible connection between the Celtic music of Ross' own Scots/Irish ancestry and the roots of contemporary American music.

Having cut their teeth in the mid-60s' Brum Beat explosion, Rick Price and Mike Sheridan had enjoyed a musical collaboration for many years but it was the formation of the Gemini label that truly cemented their songwriting partnership. Comprising their entire Gemini output including two albums and singles, this 2CD set also introduces 12 previously unreleased Rick Price solo tracks and explores a hitherto uncharted side of the late 60s' Birmingham scene through two of its key protagonists.

Since the unexpected 2017 death of Tom Petty, longtime Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell has carried on with his band The Dirty Knobs. Joined by Lance Morrison (bass), Matt Laug (drums)and key new addition Chris Holt (guitars, keys, vocals), and recorded by Petty's former brain trust of producers George Drakoulias and Martin Pradler, the Knobs are guitar rock in the classic sense. Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits begins and ends with audience applause, starting with "The Greatest," Campbell's salute to his audience. Closer "Amanda Lynn" is a mandolin frolic originally meant as walk-out music for his live shows. While his voice can be eerily reminiscent of his old bandmate, Campbell is clearly his own man on this third Knobs album—anchored by a pair of well-written, wonderfully recorded numbers. Paced by strummed guitars and ex-Heartbreakers drummer Steve Ferrone, "Angel of Mercy" is the tale of a dangerous femme fatale ("There's too much complication/ I can't figure out/ What she's leading up to/ What she's all about") whose charms are nevertheless irresistible: "Angel of mercy/ Wake me, shake me/ Take me all the way." That's followed by "Dare to Dream," where steady, chiming guitars give way to joyous choruses on which Graham Nash adds sublime vocal support.

This album is simply exceptional. You get a hearty dose of a musical genius's compositional skills and vocabulary, but you don't come away feeling as though you were "taken to school"; the music is very accessible…

Mike Oldfield is a bit of an enigma. On the one hand is the artist who almost single-handedly ushered in the genre of new age music with his epic masterpiece Tubular Bells, and then followed that with several albums, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, and even Tubular Bells II and III, all with tracks that invariable meandered for half an hour or more through various musical ideas and soundscapes – and no doubt would have gone on a lot longer had it not been for the constraints of vinyl and the restrictions on the length of musical compositions that would physically fit on two sides of a piece of plastic with micro grooves…

Pianist and composer Mike Strickland has been influenced by many styles of music and has evolved into a one-of-a-kind piano artist. Born and raised in Jackson Mississippi, he grew up listening to the great composers of that time including Henry Mancini, Vince Guaraldi, the Beatles and Burt Bacharach. His performance career started at the age of 9 when his father would encourage him to entertain dinner guests (“Alley Cat” and “Baby Elephant Walk” were the big hits back then).

Most long-time hard rock followers are well aware of MIKE TRAMP in terms of his legacy as the front man for 80’s platinum recording artist WHITE LION. Considering the fact that a ‘true’ reunion is out of the question, given guitarist Vito Bratta’s retirement from the scene, that doesn’t mean that Mike needs to lay his creative nature down and live in nostalgia. “Nomad” is the latest solo venture, a 10-song adventure that explores more of a softer, Melodic Rock terrain than his heavier, youthful years…

It's back. The debut album that blew up the '90s blues scene. The songs that announced the touchdown of a major new talent. In modern times, as an established solo star and former member of the globally acclaimed Royal Southern Brotherhood, Mike Zito's reputation precedes him. But turn back the clocks. Rewind the film reels. Slip through the wormhole to 1998, when a 27-year-old punk kid took his first shot in the studio. "Blue Room," he reflects, "is the beginning of me becoming an artist."
