Moses Boyd

Drummer, composer and producer Moses Boyd has been labelled as "one to watch" since winning the "Best Jazz Act" gong at the 2015 MOBO Awards. Three years on, and with a handful of lauded EPs behind him, Boyd is finally ready to deliver his debut solo album. We say, "solo album", but "Displaced Diaspora" is undoubtedly a collaborative affair, with various invited guests joining in with Boyd's distinctively eclectic, anything-goes fusion fun. Afro-brass outfit Kevin Haynes Grupo Eleggua make a huge impression on a number of tracks, Zara McFarlane provides a sensual, sumptuous vocal on the classic late night jazz smokiness of "City Nocturne" and Terri Walker and Louis V rise above the organic, jazz-fuelled hip-hop soul brilliance of "Waiting On The Night Bus".

Their third album in as many years, Binker Golding and Moses Boyd are trailblazers in arguably the most exciting jazz explosion London has ever witnessed. 10 new tracks featuring a giant wealth of talent alongside Binker and Moses themselves, (including UK free jazz legend Evan Parker and one half of Yussef Kamaal), this album captures a moments 45 minutes when spontaneity and composition combine to magical effect. It's a companion piece to 'Journey' but with a different energy - as North London is to South London, as West is to East.

“This album means so much to me and distills my observations, feelings and deepest expressions, reflecting on where we stand at this point in time, and our place in nature. It is the right time to stand and see the disruption humans have caused to nature's balance and our growing disconnection from our natural landscape. ‘Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind’ is about the sea, a place we are slowly seeing the harm caused, to the reefs, ecosystems, and from plastic pollution. ‘Polar Retreat’ reflects on the melting of the ice caps and celebrates our wild, barren landscapes, we are at risk of losing.“
