Compilation-portrait of "Noir Desir", a former french rock band from Bordeaux, that was very popular during the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, with two platinum and three gold albums in France. The standard members of the band were Bertrand Cantat (vocals, guitar), Serge Teyssot-Gay (guitar), Jean-Paul Roy (bass guitar) and Denis Barthe (drums). The first CD is a "best-of" with all the most popular hits of the band and the second CD contains rarities, reprises, remixes and flip-sides, most of them not found in any official studio album. The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra has its roots in the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, which began as a rehearsal band that took over the Village Vanguard on its once closed Monday nights. Even with the departure of Thad Jones and the death of Mel Lewis, the orchestra has lasted for over four decades, drawing some of the top players in New York City into its ranks, buoyed by outstanding works collected in its library over time.

Suivront étonnements et émerveillements inquiets puis admiration définitive pour celui que la critique avait désigné de son vivant comme « The Prophet of modern jazz ». Thelonious Sphere Monk (1917-1982), pianiste, compositeur, prophétise encore aujourd’hui un jazz qui bannit toute joliesse, toute complaisance.

2011 two CD collection from the R&B trio featuring Jody Watley and Howard Hewett. Created by the producer and agent of US TV show Soul Train, Shalamar notched up a string of hits both sides of the Atlantic. The trio's catchy Motown inspired disco had a big impression on the UK charts throughout the late '70s and '80s. Regarded as fashion Icons and trendsetters their dance moves were a major influence on Michael Jackson, whilst their music helped soundtrack the '80s. Disc One contains all the hit singles while Disc Two showcases their best 12 inch mixes.

Buck Clayton first came to prominence when he joined Count Basie’s orchestra in 1936 and henceforth grew in stature to become one of the pre-eminent trumpet players of his generation.
