The two sonatas for clarinet and piano, composed in 1894, were Brahms’s last chamber works. Knowing that he could count on the virtuosity of their dedicatee, the prodigious clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld (1856-1907), Brahms enthusiastically exploited all the expressive possibilities of the instrument. Under the fingers of Lorenzo Coppola, the clarinet prays, sobs, dreams or laughs, bringing astonishing conviction to all these varied emotions.

At the beginning Cecil Taylor places one single note from which all the others flow. One could also speak of an atom in which at the core the entire work is contained. Everything following would only then be splitting the atom.

This CD, recorded by Guilherme Arantes between 1993 and 1999, is an instrumental containing piano solos, in unpublished themes written by the composer. Previously released in 2000 for licensing to Sony Music, it is now re-mastered with "Manley" processing and re-digitized from the half-inch analog arrays, providing unmatched quality in this new release - now under the seal of the " Coaxo do Sapo ", in commemoration of the 35 years of Guilherme Arantes' career.

This Steinway C piano was hand picked by Elmer Bernstein (while composing the score for 'My Left Foot') from the Steinway factory in Hamburg. Word spread across the industry and it soon made a name for itself as an exceptional sounding piano. Nowadays, many artists will record at Windmill Lane specifically to use this piano.

Pianist Lowell Liebermann releases an album of world premiere recordings by contemporary British composer David Hackbridge Johnson. Liebermann describes Hackbridge Johnson’s compositional voice as vigorous, unrepentantly melodic, superbly crafted and orchestrated, and with a refreshing and idiosyncratic harmonic sense. The album's title track, Nocturne No. 7 “The Devil’s Lyre”, was inspired by Liebermann's first album for the Steinway & Sons label, "Personal Demons". Lowell Liebermann is one of America's most frequently performed and recorded living composers. He has written over one hundred thirty works in all genres, several of which have gone on to become standard repertoire for their instruments, such as his Sonata for Flute and Piano and Gargoyles for piano, each of which have been recorded over twenty times on album.
