Oliver!

In this sequel to the immensely popular tearjerker LOVE STORY, Ryan O'Neal reprises his role as poor little rich boy Oliver Barrett. This time, Oliver's in love with someone every bit as wealthy as he is–the recently divorced career woman Marcie Bonwit (Candice Bergen). The two young professionals are perfectly suited for each other yet shy away from commitment due to their respective losses. But as the couple edge closer and closer to a relationship, they begin to once again embrace life and and the possibility of new love.

Oliver! is a 1968 children's musical film directed by Carol Reed. The film is based on the stage musical Oliver!, with book, music and lyrics written by Lionel Bart. The screenplay was written by Vernon Harris. Both the film and play are based on Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist. The musical includes several musical standards, including "Food, Glorious Food", "Consider Yourself", "As Long as He Needs Me", "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two", "Oom-Pah-Pah", "Who Will Buy?", and "Where Is Love?". At the 41st Academy Awards in 1969, Oliver! was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, winning six, including Awards for Best Picture, and Best Director for Carol Reed.

Oliver Twist is an orphan, who is soon kicked out of the orphanage and thrown into a terrible home. The bad treatment Oliver receives, forces him to run off to London. Here, he is soon picked up by the Artful Dodger and taken to Fagin. Fagin treats Oliver well, but is it the life Oliver really wants?

Eleven-year-old Oliver (Nicholas Stargel) has a unique ability to see "full-bodied apparitions," otherwise known as ghosts. When his family moves from the bustling city to an older home in the suburbs, only Oliver is able to see the spirit of Clive Rutledge (Martin Mull), the previous owner. Clive causes every manner of destruction to force Oliver and his family to leave. But perhaps Oliver's special talent, along with the help of a kind neighbor (Rhea Perlman), will show Clive how to release his earthly regrets so he can leave the house and the family in peace.

Once upon a time, not so long ago, there was a man whose name was Oliver Postgate. He had a shed where he made things. With his friend Peter Firmin, Oliver created entire worlds for characters including Bagpuss, The Clangers and Ivor the Engine. These stories fired the imaginations of generations of children, and his lullaby voice became a universal reminder of childhood.

Based on the Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist is about an orphan boy who runs away from a workhouse and meets a pickpocket on the streets of London. Oliver is taken in by the pickpocket and he joins a household of young boys who are trained to steal for their master. This version of Oliver Twist is topped by Alec Guinness's masterly performance of arch-thug Fagin.
