is a one-shot prestige format comic book by Ed Brubaker (winner of the 2007 Eisner Award for Best Writer) and Doug Mahnke, released in February 2005, and intended as a sequel to . It tells the story of Batman's first encounter with the Joker in post-Crisis continuity. The book is similar in format and cover typography to the famous 1988 one-shot by Alan Moore. The storyline is based on the Joker's original introduction in (1940). While the story seems to take place directly after Year One, the beginning is tied into the ending of , in which Gordon reveals the warehouse of corpses. The story "Images" in (September 1993), taking place some time after their first meeting (according to Batman), is tied into continuity as Batman's second encounter with The Joker. The title is a reference to the movie , based on the book of the same name by Victor Hugo, whose star, Conrad Veidt, was an inspiration for The Joker. Belongs right up there alongside as the definitive Joker story. Hilary Goldstein of IGN ranked on a list of the 25 best Batman graphic novels (Number one is ).

Eng | RS & Hotfile | CBR | Zenescope Entertainment | Oct 28 2009 | 46 Pages | 22.3 MB
+ All Grimm Fairy Tales Comic Books & Related Titles of Zenescope Complete

The seventh issue of Zenescope Entertainment's series of one-shots about characters that appear in its related Grimm Fairy Tales titles. Some comic book websites and even comic book lists' solicitations state this to be part 2 of 2, the first being the second issue of the first three Tales From Wonderland one-shots. However, it really a one-shot, and not exactly a continuation of that first Mad Hatter issue (naturally posted here in Avaxhome); hence, Zenescope's specifying "One-Shot" on the issue cover and the use of the Roman numeral "II" instead of placing "Part 2". The first Mad Hatter story deals with how Drake Liddle assumed the persona of the character. This second story shows the origins of the original Mad Hatter, the one who wore the hat before Drake Liddle. It also includes a back-up story, "The Arrangement Chapter Four", continuing from , and one-shots.

Fantastic Four in… Ataque del M.O.D.O.K.! #1 (One-Shot)
CBZ (Minutemen) | Marvel Comics | Released Oct 6 2010 | 38 Pages | 30.92 MB

Every once and a while a book comes along that blows my expectations out of the water, this is one of those books. A one-shot story, Ataque del M.O.D.O.K. has a simple premise: Sue and Reed Richards go on vacation to Puerto Rico where, with the help of a local hero, they thwart M.O.D.O.K. and his A.I.M. trained monkey army. Hitting the exact tone necessary for such a silly story, this book balances its comedy with a fair amount of action and drama. While the story hits all the right notes, it is actually the art that steals the show. Even if there were no words on the page, this book would still be worth picking up solely for Juan Doe's incredible artwork. I have been impressed by each and every comic book and comic book cover that he has put out with Marvel and this issue is no exception. I could go on and on and on about the perfection of the style, but I will just leave it up to you to check out the comic and see for yourself. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up immediately! --

In January 2008 Marvel launched a new Hulk title, written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Ed McGuinness. It features the debut of a new, Red Hulk, created by long-time supporting cast members of the title character, to combat, neutralize and ultimately destroy the uncontrollable Hulk. The Red Hulk is absolutely uninhibited and tactically intelligent, the anti-thesis of the Hulk. In trying to make sense of why is there a Red Hulk and all those other Hulk family members (I think writer Jeph Loeb is taking his sweet time to weave the various layers of the storylines together to their promised potential, or to flesh out whatever it is he has in mind since he places so much emphasis on extended slam-bang action sequences but I won't say it--uh-oh!), I collected the complete Hulk (Vol. 2 in library terms; Vol. 1 ran from April 1999–February 2000 for eleven issues) up to the present--and latest--issue, together with all the one-shots I could get my hands on. I think what I have is complete, but if not, please let me know. With the exception of issues #4-6 (which are themselves excellent Green Giant scans), all are Minutemen scans.

"The first in a series of specials covering the length and breadth of the larger-than-life legend of Captain America, as told by the industry’s leading experts in the field!" So goes the solicitation for this series of one-shot specials focusing on , an unabashedly patriotic superhero who first made his appearance in (March 1941), from Marvel Comics' 1940s predecessor, Timely Comics, and was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. He achieved the height of his popularity during World War II as a symbol of the fight against the Axis powers. This series with the long attention-getting title is definitely a tie-in to Marvel Comics' 70th Anniversary and perhaps also functions as Marvel Comics' subtextual patriotic contribution in honor of the soldiers deployed in the Wars the U.S. is now involved; whatever the aim, it has helped generate renewed interest in this iconic figure of comic book history. There have been seven issues published so far, the last released last December 2, 2009 entitled, "Captain America: Theater of War: Prisoners of Duty #1."

Eng | RS & Hotfile | 31 CBR 3 CBZ | Wildstorm (DC) | Sep 1998 - Oct 7 2009 | 394.4 MB Total

is an American comic book series created by Warren Ellis (writer) and John Cassaday (artist), published by the Wildstorm imprint of DC Comics. Planetary also refers to the group portrayed in the series. Planetary was previewed in the September 1998 issues of Gen¹³ (#33) and C-23 (#6), and issue #1 was cover-dated April 1999. It was originally intended to be a 24-issue bi-monthly series. However due to illness of Ellis and other commitments by Cassaday, the series was put on hiatus between 2001 and 2003; it has since restarted and concluded with issue #27 in October of 2009. Laura Martin (also credited as Laura DePuy) has colored almost every issue of the series. When the first issue came out, Clinton was still president of the United States; not that anybody who has patiently waited through all these years has any reason to complain, because this series is, to quote almost everyone who has read it, "so damn good." If it were published more or less regularly, then it would have walked away with so many Eisners. Suffice it to say that this series compilation is one of those the serious comic buff would want to collect, even if only in digital form. IGN calls Planetary "one of the smartest and cleverest pieces of science fiction of all time" and then gave the last and final Issue #27 an "Incredible" 9.5 Rating and its top Editor's Choice Award for the comics week of october 7, 2009. That's better than "Outstanding" and that's about as high a rating as any comic book could ever get.
