Viktor is the name of trumpeter Bastian Stein's second Pirouet CD. It breaks out and into a completely new soundscape. Forgoing a harmony instrument, Stein along with saxophonist Johannes Enders, bassist Phil Donkin, and drummer James Maddren conjure up fascinating sounds with enormous latitude – sounds that have an unusually personal touch.

Jasper Blom is one of the Netherlands’ most revered musicians and a leading figure on the contemporary jazz scene. He’s known as a versatile soloist, a forward-thinking composer and an expert leader, having fronted his long-time quartet of guitarist Jesse van Ruller, bassist Frans van der Hoeven and drummer Martijn Vink for over 20 years.

On April 7th the Berlin-based Peruvian musicians Alejandra Cárdenas, AKA Ale Hop, and Laura Robles present their debut album together, released via Buh records. With a foundation informed by decolonialism and organology, ‘Agua Dulce’ is a radical deconstruction of traditional rhythms of the Peruvian coast, in which the cajón instrument plays a central role.

Cinema Paradiso: the celebrated prize-winning film from Guiseppe Tornatore takes its place as the godfather of this CD, and the captivatingly soulful melody that Ennio Morricone wrote for the film is a part of it all. These recordings capture memories from the movie screen and carry us along as they unwaveringly forge the path into a world of their own, out of the darkened theaters and into the luminous universe of sound. The music has an atmospheric undertow that pulls the listener into these familiar melodies that have now evolved a life of their own.

When a German jazz band made a big splash over the last years, bassist Robert Landfermann was probably onboard. Hard to think of anyone hwo was on so many successful jazz explorations, whether with Pablo Held's internationally acclaimed trio, or Matthias Schriefl's shrill-shimmering Shreefpunk. Landfermann has played with such stars as John Scofield and lee Konitz, while continuing to pursue his own projects.

Weather Walker, the monumental, atmospheric and unfailingly melodic new orchestral album from one of Europe’s most prolific composers and instrumentalists, Tim Garland, takes its inspiration from The Lake District in the North West of England. Tim is a musician with equal talent and scope both as a performer and composer and Weather Walker showcases his sheer brilliance and ambition, confirming his reputation as one of contemporary music's most forward-thinking figures. Recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studio 1 with a 43 piece string section, this epic production contains some of his best large ensemble writing. Uniting his regular collaborators, pianist Rebello and bassist Gabolev, with a 35 piece string orchestra, Weather Walker is also a first-time collaboration with the exciting and progressive German pianist Pablo Held, a musician with an equally strong sense of harmony and freedom of expression.

Divine Traces is Max Petersen's 2019 trio release and debut on Berlin based label QFTF.
This album comes as a videoclip/single release, meaning that it will be published as video on YouTube; Vimeo and on all streaming platforms throughout the next three month.

Jazz’n More magazine’s Reiner Kobe calls the Berlin guitarist German guitarist Ronny Graupe “one of the most promising talents in German jazz” who is “on the right path with his ideal lineup”. That lineup call themselves also Spoom, a group name Graupe conjured from the combined sounds and ideas of a creative “big bang” and ocean spray. Musical partners since 2004, Graupe, bassist Jonas Westergaard and drummer Christian Lillinger have already made their mark on the jazz scene. On The White Belt, Spoom’s second album for PIROUET, Graupe and co masterfully approach their music as a new beginning.
