Digitally remastered and expanded reissue of this 1967 album by Mayall and his Bluesbreakers, the only studio album to feature future Fleetwood Mac leader Peter Green on guitar. Features an additional 14 tracks including studio cuts and radio sessions.
Eric Clapton is usually thought of as John Mayall's most important right-hand man, but the case could also be made for his successor, Peter Green. The future Fleetwood Mac founder leaves a strong stamp on his only album with the Bluesbreakers, singing a few tracks and writing a couple, including the devastating instrumental "Supernatural." Green's use of thick sustain on this track clearly pointed the way to his use of guitar riffs with elongated, slithery tones on Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross" and "Black Magic Woman," as well as anticipating some aspects of Carlos Santana's style…

What a difference two years makes! In 1963, Bob Dylan was the Ur-folksinger, rendering his protest songs in an unvarnished voice accompanied by his rudimentary acoustic guitar work. In 1965, “the voice of his generation” went electric, his more surrealistically tinged tunes now flaunting full rock 'n' roll support. The now-classic albums may tell part of the story, but to fully experience the sea change in Dylan’s style and its ramifications among his fans, you have to turn to documentary evidence.

With guitarist Hoshal Wright replacing founding member Mike Bloomfield (formerly of Paul Butterfield Blues Band) and Herbie Rich taking full control of the organ (from another ex-Paul Butterfield member Barry Goldberg, along with future Lou Reed keyboardist Mike Fonfara), you have a definite sequel to the Electric Flag's March 1968 debut LP, A Long Time Comin' appearing right on its heels, in December of that same year. The original album had "An American Music Band" under the group's name, and that slogan becomes the subtitle of this follow-up.
