Shawn Phillips is my guru, a spiritual guide if you will. After listening to this album I am always infused with energy and good will and feel I have the strength to carry on no matter what is pulling me down in life. Shawn is my candidate for the most overlooked / underrated musician of our time, he’s an extremely fine musician and vocalist with an incredible vocal range that will blow your mind.

Over the years Mr. Phillips has worked with Peter Robinson quite a bit, you might know him from Quatermass (the band). Peter Robinson shines quite a bit on Rumplestiltskin's Resolve, another Quatermass alum (John Gustafson on bass) shows up on the “Spiteful” track.

Turn down the lights and get out your joss-sticks for this one: a selection of sixteenth-century Tenebrae music for Holy Week, among the most evocative parts of the liturgy. Since they had already made successful recordings of the Brumel, Tallis and White, it was a good idea for The Tallis Scholars to add new recordings of Tenebrae settings by Alfonso Ferrabosco the Elder and Palestrina. As Peter Phillips points out in his brief note, the only textual feature they have in common is their all ending with the passage “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, convertere ad Dominum Deum tuum”. Otherwise the texts that the various composers selected from the Lamentations of Jeremiah are quite different; but all show an intensity and a devotional power that work cumulatively to produce a remarkably satisfying disc. And it is endlessly fascinating to hear the different approaches to these anguished texts.

This 2008's four CD set, the most extensive retrospective look at Peter Green's truly legendary career. The set contains essential Peter Green music drawn from all stages of his career. From his first tentative recordings with the likes of Peter Bardens and John Mayall, it moves through the genesis of Fleetwood Mac and the band's many classic blues recordings including "Ramblin' Pony" and "Black Magic Woman". Fleetwood Mac's subsequent blues and rock fusion chart hits - titles like the utterly unique "Albatross", "Oh Well" and the haunting "Man Of The World" - are all included, as is the best of his later solo work and Splinter Group recordings. The set is stylishly packaged in a hardback digicase with 64-page booklet containing enlightening liner notes, rare photographs, memorabilia, plus commentary and artwork from Peter himself. Quite simply, this is the ultimate Peter Green collection - a special release befitting a special musician and songwriter who is rightly one of the most revered blues guitarists of all time.

After 1979 and 1980 albums by Peter Green were by turns bluesy and funky, White Sky from 1981 emphasizes rock. Maybe this is because all the songs are written by his older brother Mike Green, who sings on the title track. Mike's material doesn't quite work for Peter, who sounds ill at ease singing "Born on the Wild Side." Drummer Reg Isidore of the Robin Trower Band continues his collaboration with Green. After the preceding two albums were produced by Peter Vernon-Kell, Peter Green produced this one with Geoff Robinson. For the second straight album, he ends with a long, dreamy instrumental.

In the Skies is an album by British blues rock musician Peter Green, who was the founder of Fleetwood Mac and a member from 1967–70. Released in 1979, this was his second solo album and the first after eight years of obscurity. Accompanying Green on this album were several experienced session musicians, including Snowy White, who went on to work with Pink Floyd before joining Thin Lizzy. White contributed some of the lead guitar work on the album since Green was not yet fully comfortable with his return to recording after his long break. Also present was Green's colleague and friend from his earliest bands, Peter Bardens. All tracks were written by Peter Green, with some of the lyrics written by Green's then wife Jane.
