Robert Burns and Pastoral is a full-scale reassessment of the writings of Robert Burns (1759-1796), arguably the most original poet writing in the British Isles between Pope and Blake, and the creator of the first modern vernacular style in British poetry.

Margret Wander, better known by her stage name Dessa, is a rapper, singer, spoken word artist, and writer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a member of the indie hip hop collective Doomtree. Robert Christgau say: 'Dessa is a fluent lyricist. . . she recalls an old-fashioned high-quality singer-songwriter like Joni Mitchell or Rosanne Cash'.
