Wonderful music blend of folk songs by Putumayo. All the artists are from nations (mainly in South America) with common characteristic the growing and export of coffee. A portion of the proceeds from this release (which spans 1982-1996) went to Coffee Kids, a New England-based non-profit organization whose goal was to improve conditions for coffee growers and their families in coffee-producing countries. The songs themselves are like the drink itself. They can be soothing to the senses or can grab your attention and "wake you up." Enjoy a very beautiful album.

Rumba flamenco, or rumba gitana, or rumba catalana, is an upbeat style of music with influences from spanish flamenco, salsa and pop. It was made very popular worldwide by the Gipsy Kings. Putumayo presents in this wondeful album many artists, mainly from the Catalan region of northeastern Spain and southwestern France, who drink from the same musical well as the Gipsy Kings, yet less recognized on the international stage. From Putumayo's children's division, Sing Along With Putumayo is a decent attempt to make an American roots music album engineered for kids. The bulk of the artists here aren't really from the children's music genre at all, but they sweeten their songs a bit for these recordings. The album opens up with a simple folky piece from Arlo Guthrie, then proper kids' songs from bluegrassers Rhonda Vincent and Tim O'Brien.
