Cookin’ at the Queens: Live in Las Vegas (1984 & 1988) is the first release in 33 years from the unsung jazz guitar great Emily Remler, and it’s a previously unreleased collection of performances that were broadcast on KNPR Las Vegas as part of Alan Grant's "4 Queens Jazz Night from Las Vegas” weekly radio program in 1984 and 1988. Released in cooperation with the Emily Remler Estate and features quartet performances with pianist Cocho Arbe, bassist Carson Smith and drummer Tom Montgomery (1984), and trio performances with bassist Carson Smith and drummer John Pisci (1988). The deluxe package will include liner notes by acclaimed author Bill Milkowski, plus interviews and statements from many other artists who knew or were inspired by Emily Remler, such as Sheryl Bailey, Russell Malone, David Benoit, Mike Stern, Rodney Jones, Mimi Fox, Jocelyn Gould, Amanda Monaco and many, many others. Vocalist Alexis Cole is an accomplished jazz performer with a sophisticated, urbane style and warm, resonant voice, well suited to traditional standards and swing. Cole has performed with the likes of Rufus Reid, Slide Hampton, Ron Affif, John Hébert, and Norma Winstone. Although based in N.Y.C., she has played and taught in locales worldwide, including teaching at an affiliate of the Berklee College of Music in Ecuador and as a faculty member in the jazz voice program at SUNY Purchase. Born in Queens, New York in 1976, Cole grew up in a family with a long history of musical endeavors.

Jamaica's national motto, 'Out Of Many One People', could well be applied to the music that shaped the island's national sound, with modern reggae the result of many different musical forms coalescing to form a wonderfully unique 'one'. Fantastic Voyage's highly popular Sound System Classics series has already celebrated the American jump blues favoured at Jamaican dances in the pre-ska era, but contrary to widespread belief, US rhythm & blues and the indigenous style of mento were not the only types of music enjoyed across the island prior to the development of Shuffle Blues and Ska. In fact, the diversity of sounds that exerted a direct influence on popular Jamaican music throughout the 20th Century is astonishing, taking in gospel, blues, jazz, vocal groups, country, pop, film music and exotica, hailing from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Southern Africa and the British Isles, as well as America.

Born to an American mother and a German father, Roemer grew up in a bi-lingual household in Frankfurt, Germany. She began piano lessons at six and then began singing in church and with a traveling choir; her first efforts at songwriting took place by the age of nine.

Though based in multiple musical realms, pianist Alain Mallet's ambitious Mutt Slang projects coalesce into a world that exudes 'exotic' yet ultimately feels familiar, the roots of its various components meeting somewhere deep within. Sharing the musical landscape with young musicians from Palestine, Brazil, Italy, Israel, Japan, Bulgaria, Panama, Ireland, Puerto Rico and the US, the complexity of their backgrounds - musically, ethnically, and otherwise, permeates the session, suffusing Mallet's compositions with an undeniable energy and life. Tony Bennett Der Schatten von Frank Sinatra ist groß, übergroß für die meisten anderen Künstler des Genres. Doch nicht für seinen persönlichen Freund, den Jazz-Crooner Tony Bennett. Wenn auch im selben Metier zu Hause, gelingt ihm über Jahrzehnte hinweg andauernder Erfolg beim Publikum sowie die Entwicklung eines ganz eigenen Stils. Er kommt am 3. August 1926 im New Yorker Stadtteil Queens als Anthony Dominick Benedetto zur Welt. Den Sohn italienischstämmiger Einwanderer zieht es bereits im Alter von zehn Jahren auf die Bühne, zunächst im Rahmen des Singens anlässlich einer Brücken-Einweihung. Rasch steht für ihn fest, dass er sein Glück im Showgeschäft suchen will. So sammelt er bis in die vierziger Jahre hinein praktische Gesangs-Erfahrungen mit Auftritten in kleinen Lokalen. Während seiner 1946 endenden Dienstzeit in der US-Army, die ihn auch nach Deutschland führt, arbeitet Benedetto in Militär-Orchestern. Zurück in den Staaten, macht er sich unter dem Pseudonym Joe Bari einen Namen.
