Best known for being the keyboardist in La Maschera Di Cera, but mostly being a very versatile musician/composer who happens to be involved in several groups, Agostino Macor founded Zaal in 2002 as a jazz-prog project. Joining forces with a host of musicians that filled duties on violin, bass/cello/contrabass and drums, plus some guests, Macor managed to deliver a delicately colorful type of progressive-oriented jazz-rock, highly melodic and yet mysterious. The fluid incorporation of elements from symphonic prog, space-rock and chamber-rock gives the overall sound a rich set of atmospheres; simultaneously, the old school jazz factor helps the band to keep things lyrical.
Despite the fact that Wagon Christ-related releases started to pile up for various labels, Luke Vibert wasn't in danger of repeating himself - his productions on Sorry I Make You Lush differ stylistically and thematically from any material he's issued under any other alias, while still being less a genre holiday than his previous YosepH for Warp. Still pushing his beats and basslines farther into funk and soul territory even while he pulls his effects from the realm of experimental electronics, Vibert may play the dance technician while producing his tracks, but he's become much more a natural trackmaster than in the past. "I'm Singing" may be his first vocal feature of all time, but regardless, it is a vocal track, and one that shows him integrating sung vocals into his hipster funk very well (a later track finds him sampling a female folksinger à la Jacqui McShee to good effect)…
CD reissue of this 1979 album by the jazz percussionist/bandleader. Fans of Billy Cobham have been screaming for B.C. to make its worldwide CD debut. This album features Ernie Watts and Bobby Lyle. Our CD reissue features a bonus track of the 12" extended version of the song "What Is Your Fantasy". You will note that Billy takes his fusion drumming seriously on this album as well.
