Drummer Roger Johansen hails from Tverrlandet outside Bodø, and for many years has been a central figure in jazz in his hometown. He has made five records in his own name, as well as records in collaboration with, among others, guitarist Staffan William Olsson & Sharp 9, pianist Jørn Øien, saxophonist John Surman & The Rainbow Band, vocalist Karin Krog and brother, trumpeter Tore Johansen, to name a few few. Like many other Norwegian musicians, he started in the school band, but joined the jazz community, including playing with pianist Jan Gunnar Hoff, bassist Terje Venaas and drummer and percussionist Finn Sletten.

El disco sale a la venta el viernes 28 de abril y cuenta con un total de 10 canciones, tanto en inglés como en español. Un sonido más maduro con un estilo pop y pinceladas dance que nos dejan ver el crecimiento musical del artista. Este nuevo trabajo contiene temas como ‘Me voy de aquí’ y ‘Te arrepentirás’ baladas que nos dejan ver al Roger más melódico, al igual que canciones como ‘Lucky’ y ‘Dance’, up tempos pegadizos y bailables. En ‘Capricho de Dioses’, Roger ha colaborado con Doble Alma y Calum. ‘Love Me Tonight’ cuenta con las voces de Alba y Marta Villanueva que aportan su fuerza y vitalidad al tema y ‘Thinking’fusiona la voz de Roger con la de Calum, creando una colaboración perfecta.

Roger Williams (piano) had already become a commercial and critically acclaimed pianist with over a dozen long-players in his rapidly growing catalog. Till (1957) became his second Top Ten album, with the title track also scoring a Top 40 single. Williams was a musical prodigy at a very early age, and his skills as both an emotive performer and noted arranger became a trademark of his easy listening and lightly orchestrated pop platters. This title is prototypical of the fare that established and sustained his success, with a dozen primarily instrumental pop standards from fairly disparate origins.

Roger Waters' The Wall, Live In Berlin marks the second in a series of Pink Floyd related reviews I will be writing to commemorate the long awaited release of the band's Pulse DVD, which I reviewed last month. During the end of the 80's, after Roger Waters had left Pink Floyd, he began making plans to perform The Wall as a huge event, originally considering such grand places as the Sahara Desert, Monument Valley, The Grand Canyon, and Wall Street. Around this time, plans were also underway for the reunification of Germany, and the Berlin wall eventually fell in November of 1989.
