"Metal Machine" is the 4th and latest to date studio album by Swedish melodic metal band "Midnight Sun" originally released in 2001. The album was to feature an all star line-up by today's standards including singer Jacob Samuels ("The Poodles", ex-"Talisman"), guitarist Magnus Karlsson ("Primal Fear", "Starbreaker") drummer Jamie Salazar along with founder bassist Jonas Reingold.
Musically, Agents Of Mercy falls under the song oriented symphonic progressive rock genre, which is very similar to Roine and Nad’s respected bands. They do have a unique identity. The uniqueness comes partially due to Nad’s vocals, as it takes a while to get used to. A brief description is a mix of classic Yes (Roine’s guitar playing) & mostly Lamb-era Genesis (Nad‘s vocals).
For a prog fan, Lalle Larsson (Lars-Egon Larsson, born in 1974 in Malmö) is perhaps the best known as a keyboard player from Swedish Symphonic giants Karmakanic. He also played in 3rd World Electric, Electrocution 250, and had collaborated with The Alchemists and Virgil Donati; to name only a few. However, from 1994 up to this day he had released a handful of albums - all eclectic in nature and worth checking. This Scandinavian soul is deeply rooted in fusion, coloring with strong shades of various Western Academic musics, a teaspoon (or more) of avantgarde approach - and of course, with a pretentious (in a good sense) bow to his old love, heavy metal…
Nad Sylvan is of course the latest incarnation of the archangel Gabriel, providing a myriad of prog bands the ability to step up to the microphone and sing…
KARMAKANIC is a kind of solo project from Sweden's finest bass player Jonas Reingold.THE FLOWER KINGS family, one of the wonders of the world. It seems that nearly every member has his own solo project. But not only solo projects, their members have enough power to take part in projects like THE TANGENT or innumerable other projects. Countless as well are their guest apperances.
For this project, members of the Flower Kings (guitarist Roine Stolt, bassist Jonas Reingold, and drummer Zoltan Csorsz) and one ex-member of Van der Graaf Generator (sax player David Jackson) team with the core of Parallel or 90 Degrees (singer/keyboardist Andy Tillison, guitarist Guy Manning, and keyboardist Sam Baine), hence the name of the group. Parallel, tangent – take a few seconds to figure it out. Stolt and Tillison share an undisputable love for old-school symphonic prog rock and epic songs. They indulge in both here. "In Darkest Dreams" is the main course, an eight-part, 20-minute suite that adds some of the Flower Kings' bright colors to Po90s usually darker (VDGG-esque) delivery.
