Columbia, apparently attempting to cash in on Pink Floyd's explosion in popularity, released this album in 1981 under Nick Mason's name when in reality he's simply the drummer in this incarnation of Carla Bley's ensemble; Ms. Bley composed all the music and lyrics for this project. It's possibly her most overtly pop-oriented album, with all eight songs featuring vocals by Soft Machine alumnus Robert Wyatt.

Indonesian keyboard star Dwiki Dharmawan returns following his 2015 MoonJune Records debut, the more fusion-heavy "So Far, So Close", with the even more ambitious "Pasar Klewer". 'Happy Apples’ presents a collection of improvised duo exchanges between legendary free jazz vocalist Julie Tippetts, whose spell-binding vocals intermingle perfectly with saxophonist Kevin Figes’ atmospheric playing. Both musicians supplement the recording with an array of percussive devices, including the quirky tinkling 1970s toy that lends the album its name. The epic opening track “The Third Harmony” sets the mood for the recording as Tippetts displays a dazzling array of vocal techniques throughout, with Figes switching to flute and percussion accompaniment. Other tracks involve strange sounds - a crackling transistor radio, squeaking plastic chicken and toy duck that complement the traditional instruments and Julie’s voice, which is the most powerful and striking of them all.

In the Land of Grey and Pink is considered by many to be a pinnacle release from Caravan. A blending of jazz and folk instrumentation and improvisational styles….

Waterloo Lily is a 1972 released album by Caravan on the Deram label. It is the only album made by Caravan with Stephen Miller as the keyboard player. He brought a jazzier feel to the sound of Caravan than had been heard on the previous album. The stand out track is "The Love in Your Eye" which has been featured as a live track for many years by the band. Wikipedia
