After Fish's departure, Marillion teetered on the brink of collapse: The frontman's distinct voice and poetic prose made him the defining member of the band. One can only imagine how record executives held their collective breath as Steve Hogarth was brought in to take the reins. His first outing with band, 1989's Season's End, removed all doubts about the band's future. Hogarth's unique, expressive voice fit Marillion perfectly; on the full-throttle rock assault of "The Uninvited Guest" or the emotional "After You," Hogarth's singularity is unmistakable. The heartfelt "Easter," with its imaginative electric-acoustic arrangement, is another showcase for Hogarth's talents…

Swedish band Three Seasons was formed back in 2009, and through 6 years and three albums they have managed to work their way to becoming quite the popular band in a relatively short amount of time. "Grow" is their third studio album, and was released in the late spring of 2014 through Swedish label Transubstans Records. Those familiar with this band from previous occasions, or those familiar with their label, will have a pretty good idea about what to expect from this production. The band's label are known for signing bands exploring a more vintage oriented kind of rock, and Three Seasons hasn't been an exception in that department. This is a band with a deep affection for the rock and hard rock of the 1970's, and they document their talents quite nicely indeed also on this occasion.

This is a compilation of Franki Valli & The 4 Seasons' hits, including "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Sherry", and "December, 1963 (Oh What A Night)". Although they were one of the very biggest rock & roll groups of the 1960s, the Four Seasons – unlike, say, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, or the Byrds – don't excite virtually automatic respect from listeners and critics. A big factor is their most distinguishing trademark, the high falsetto vocals of their lead singer, Frankie Valli. Many also found their material – romantic tunes with tightly arranged group harmonies that updated doo wop ethos into the '60s – a little too clean-cut. Whatever your feelings about the group, though, there's no denying their considerable importance.
