Sulton, a bassist and singer, joined Todd Rundgren’s Utopia for its fifth, longest-lasting incarnation. This four-piece Utopia line-up of Rundgren, Sulton, keyboardist Roger Powell and drummer John “Willie” Wilcox, formed in 1976 and released five albums between 1977 and 1982.

Compiled and annotated by instrumental specialists Dave Burke and Alan Taylor, this compilation is subtitled The Best, The Rarest and The Unreleased. This is the first comprehensive compilation of their work. It features the work of Jack Nitzsche, Rene Hall, Plas Johnson, Tommy Tedesco, Hal Blaine, Leon Russell, Steve Douglas and Glen Campbell. This CD brings together the very best of the material that The Marketts cut for Warner Brothers between 1963-66 including all of the rare sides from the later 45s plus an unissued track in the shape of Makaha (a Hawaiian resort) which was cut at the same session as Out Of Limits. It serves as a fitting testament to the times when a couple of can-do guys with a pocketful of great ideas could walk into a studio full of top class pro-musicians and turn out hit records that would capture the imagination of millions of record buyers worldwide.

In among the most enviable careers in music, Miller is a two-time Grammy-winner and the composer/producer of ten critically acclaimed and genre-defying albums (seven studio and three live). San Francisco vocalist Ed Reed is a bona fide contemporary of West Coast jazz luminaries: Art Pepper, Frank Morgan, Dexter Gordon, Wardell Gray and Hampton Hawes. Unlike that august group, Reed remains to tell his story, and by proxy, theirs' in the bargain. Like this same group, drugs (and in the case of Gray, murder) suspended Reeds musical career. Unlike Pepper and Morgan, who staged much heralded late-career comebacks, Reed did not first record until 2007 at age 78. Neither "late bloomer" nor "rising star" adequately describe Reed any more than "senior" or "elderly" do.
