Apocalypse tells us about this huge conflict through the tragic destiny of those who went to war (soldiers) those who suffered from it (civilians), and those who ran it (political and military leaders). The "horrible yet familiar" war led to the deaths of 50 million men and women across the world - making for the first time as many civilian victims as there were military casualties.

After proving they could keep 10cc alive as a duo act with 1977's successful Deceptive Bends, Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman pressed on in 1978 with Bloody Tourists. Although it scored some notable hits, it was a less consistent and less memorable affair than its predecessor. The problem with Bloody Tourists is that it feels like a group of session musicians trying to come up with songs in the 10cc style instead of a proper 10cc album. The eccentric humor that once flowed freely feels forced on this album: "Reds In My Bed" is a lame stab at Cold War satire that never really succeeds in saying anything while "Shock On The Tube (Don't Want Love)" tries to be daring with its tale of a subway sex fantasy and instead comes off as smutty and dull. Another problem is that the music propping up these narratives is lacking in both hooks and inspiration: the backing track for "Take These Chains" is a dull attempt at rockabilly that sounds like an especially poppy Eagles outtake and "The Anonymous Alcoholic" has a disco-parody portion that merely sounds like a mediocre example of the music it is supposedly sending up. However, the album's singles present a few bright moments: "For You And I" is a lovely ballad that fortifies its attractive melody with some strong vocal harmonies and "Dreadlock Holiday" chronicles the exploits of a hapless tourist in Jamaican against a catchy pop-reggae backdrop.

The third Motorpsycho full length marks an important step for the band, both in terms of musical ambition and execution. The previous album Demon Box was a very diverse album but it could still largely be tagged as a metal/stoner album. With Timothy's Monster, the band found a more personal mix of heavy indie rock with psychedelic experimentation that fans probably identify as psychonaut-rock…

He starred in Monster Dog, a horror film for which he wrote two songs. He also guest starred on the Twisted Sister track "Be Chrool to Your Scuel". It was Alice Cooper's first record to feature bass playing from Kip Winger, who would later gain great fame with his own band, Winger.

Hollywood Edge Hi Tech and Top Secret WAV (repost)

Hollywood Edge Hi Tech and Top Secret WAV (repost) | 1.01 Gb

The Hollywood Edge team of investigators is at it again! Top Secret missions were planned to "closed to the public" research laboratories to capture the most unique laboratory sounds for the very first time. The results: entirely new sounding machines, rumbles, room tones and start-ups recorded from classified and restricted experiments. The Edge team also invaded a Foley stage so that the second half of their mission could be completed - collecting hi-tech sounds. Every little servo and small gear-head motor sound was recorded to get a multitude of different sounds at work. Top sound designers were then consulted and happily agreed to contribute space and science effects, and various medical research machine sounds recorded both externally and internally.

The final Riverside release of Wes Montgomery material (before the important label went completely bankrupt) was similar to his debut four years earlier: a trio with organist Melvin Rhyne and an obscure drummer (this time George Brown). The CD reissue even includes one leftover track from the earliest session ("Missile Blues") along with newer jams and a pair of "bonus tracks" – an alternate take of "The Way You Look Tonight" and a brief "Unidentified Solo Guitar" piece. In general, the music swings hard (particularly the two versions of "The Way You Look Tonight"), and is a worthy if not essential addition to Wes Montgomery's discography. He would have a few straight-ahead dates for Verve, but this release was really the end of an era.
