"Ein Klassiker von Eberhard Weber. Seine Colours fanden das ideale Verhältnis von minimalistischen Klavier- spiel, singendem Bass, klagendem Saxophon- spiel und nervösem Schlagzeug. Hohe Bewertungen für die Interpretation und Klangqualität." ~Audio
One of the best of Hammill's early solo albums. The thought-provoking, questioning lyrics of "Forsaken Gardens" and "A Louse Is Not a Home" query the fundamental premises of modern society (a theme later continued on The Noise) while "Rubicon" is a truly sensual love song…
This CD is very nostalgic and reminds of the vintage/classic Robert Rheims Organ, Chimes & Carols, "CHRISTMAS IN CAROLS" LP album. This Thomas Kinkade "SILENT NIGHT" CD also has organ, chimes and choral, but is updated and sounds more modern than the old Rhymes album.
Miles Davis's famous mid-1960s quintet, featuring saxophonist Wayne Shorter and pianist Herbie Hancock, was intact until just a few weeks before his new, electric ensemble recorded "In a Silent Way". Legendary as a kind of line in the sand challenging jazz fans during the ascendance of electric, psychedelic rock, "In a Silent Way" hinted at the repetitive polyrhythms Davis would employ throughout the early 1970s. It also partook generously of electric piano and bass and rekindled the tonal palette that Davis had explored famously with Kind of Blue. But "In a Silent Way" remains a clearly electric jazz record, part ambient color exploration, part rock-inflected energy and vibe, and part outright maverick creativity. Davis takes many long, breathy solos, and they glisten in a burnished blue against his new group's strange admixture of musical moods.
On this disc, Christian Poltéra and Kathryn Stott chart the gradual development in Dvořák’s composition for cello. The disc includes chamber works that Dvořák composed originally for cello and piano or arranged for the combination including Polonaise in A major, the Rondo in G minor and Silent Woods which was originally a piano duet.
On The Silent Enigma, Anathema started leaving behind the death-doom sound of their debut album Serenades and incorporating traces of the more melodic songwriting that will dominate their future discography. Fans of the band should have seen this coming: already on Serenades the band had showed their inclination to experiment with more cinematic and atmospheric pieces, such as on “Sleepless”, “J'ai fait une promesse”, or the 20-minute keyboard drone “Dreaming: The Romance”. The Silent Enigma moves a further step (or two) in this direction: the songwriting becomes more accessible, the riffs and melodies are catchier, and the tempos are not as oppressively slow as on the doomier Serenades.
