Silhouette describes itself as Melodic/Symphonic Rock. All songs are composed by the band-members themselves who are influenced by bands as Genesis, Marillion, Pink Floyd and IQ among others.
The genesis of the band was Jos Uffing responding to an ad from Brian de Graeve in 2001. Brian was looking for a drummer & singer for his band. By the time Jos called though, the band had already broken up. But during the phone call, they found that they had a shared taste related to music. So they kept in touch , working on their own songs & sharing them with each other from time to time. By 2004, they came to a point where they felt they were ready to get a band going to complete their songs…

In 2014, Dutch band Silhouette released their fourth studio album, 'Beyond The Seventh Wave'. In 2016, they were filmed and recorded performing the album in its entirety, and this has now been released as a DVD and CD set, along with a few additional songs on the DVD. They wisely had a few additional guests make appearances, the most important of which is an additional guitarist who was there for the whole set, who assisted in providing some additional heaviness to proceedings, allowing Daniel van der Weijde to provide some delicate solos on his seven-string guitar. This is a powerful album, with lots of drama and dynamic shifts in the music as they tell the story of what happens to the main character.

Silhouette is proud to announce “The World is Flat And Other Alternative Facts”, our fifth studio album. It contains six songs with a total playing time of nearly 50 minutes. The 18 minute long epic “Symphony for a Perfect moment”, consisting of five parts, is the longest song ever written by the band. The album is unusually diverse and adventurous. While still recognizably Silhouette, this musical journey contains influences of not only the founding fathers of progressive rock, but also of contemporary, modern acts. We won’t tell you which ones, you will have to discover for yourself! What we can tell you is that this artistic evolution is obviously due to the growing influence of the younger members of the band, who were more actively involved in the writing and arranging than on previous Silhouette albums.

Now reduced to a three-piece (John Murphy, Jeff Murphy, and Gary Klebe), the band recorded their fifth album independently in their home studio in Illinois. A pleasant though unexceptional album, Silhouette is a softer, more keyboard-dominated effort. Without an American outlet (they left Elektra prior to recording), this album was only available in Europe until the band's own label, Black Vinyl Records, reissued it in the late '80s.

By the time Bonnie Tyler completed Silhouette in Red in 1993, she already had nearly a dozen albums to list in her musical resumé, not counting those done as collections. She is probably best known for her three biggest hits, "Total Eclipse of the Heart," "Holding Out for a Hero," and "It's a Heartache." Those songs and others earned her both gold and platinum albums, as well as a loyal following in the United States, Germany, England, and other countries. Tyler perfected her singing talents by performing with a band in numerous clubs in the early '70s. She was a big fan of singers like Tina Turner and Janis Joplin, and those strong influences often shine through on this hard to find album. With standout numbers like "Sally Comes Around," "Send Me the Pillow," and "You Won't See Me Cry," Silhouette in Red is a great find – if you can get your hands on it.
