Emily the Strange es un personaje ficticio que nació de la mano de Nathan Carrico en 1991 como ilustración en una tabla de skate, para Santa Cruz Skateboards en Santa Cruz, California. Su amigo Rob Reger (fundador de Cosmic Debris) junto a su socio Matt Reed, utilizarían el personaje en pegatinas, camisetas y diverso merchandising… Apareció por primera vez en unas etiquetas adhesivas distribuidas en conciertos, tiendas de discos y tiendas de skate, para promover Cosmic Debris. La cantidad de merchandising ligada a Emily es considerable: se produjo una línea de ropa, artículos de papelería, pegatinas y accesorios.

Sum 41 is a Canadian rock band from Ajax, Ontario. Originally called Kaspir, the band formed in 1996 and currently consists of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Deryck Whibley, lead guitarist/backing vocalist Dave Baksh, rhythm/lead guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist Tom Thacker, bassist/backing vocalist Jason McCaslin and drummer Frank Zummo.

The seeds of the collaboration were planted in 2017 when Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars toured together on the European leg of his 24K Magic World Tour. One late-night jam session on the road unlocked immediate chemistry. Just before the world slipped into quarantine, Bruno called Anderson: “Remember that idea we had back in 2017? Let’s do it.” One studio session grew into to a months-long collaboration, culminating the “setlist of doom.” Legendary Bootsy Collins christened Silk Sonic and came in as the “special guest host” for An Evening With Silk Sonic, their debut album.Silk Sonic was finally set free on March 5th, 2021.

Having recently rescued veteran pianist Henri Pierre Noel from virtual obscurity, Wah Wah 45s boss Adam Scrimshire has uncovered another long lost LP by the man titled One More Step, and has now re-released it for all our listening pleasure. Originally only receiving a limited release in Canada, this sophomore LP dates from the early '80s and features 12 more diverse cuts including the borderline schmaltz of ballad "Will Come A Day" (rescued by stunning ivory tinkling), the frenetic Afro rhythms of "Roller Skate Rhapsody" and the accelerated Eurodisco gem "Funky Spider Dance".

Soul Jazz Records’ new ‘Boombox 3’ continues their story of the first rap records to be put onto vinyl. It is a jam-packed collection of original independent old school hip hop, created with just one thing in mind - to get this party jumping. After the explosion of hip hop in the parks and clubs of The Bronx in the mid-1970s, it was in Harlem where the first rap records emerged at the end of 1979 - an avalanche of superb rap tracks released on small independent labels all trying to capitalize on the success of ‘Rapper’s Delight’.
