A Midsummer Night's Dream, Steve Hackett's first orchestral album, featured the London Symphony Orchestra, and revolved around Shakespeare's classic play about the tale of Oberon and Titania. While Hackett had done classical projects in the past as a guitarist, this was certainly among the more complex endeavors he had done to this period of his career. Of course, this album would serve as the catalyst for future inspirations like the Metamorpheus album, which is clearly influenced by Hackett's work on this ambitious project. The 18-studio tracks that make up this release flow beautifully, and Hackett is in top-form on this release. This is without question among Hackett's finest moments as a classical guitarist.
The Tokyo Tapes is ex-Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett's live album featuring a progressive rock supergroup line-up of John Wetton (from King Crimson, UK, Asia), Chester Thompson (from Weather Report, Frank Zappa, Genesis live), Ian McDonald (from King Crimson, Foreigner) and rounded out by keyboardist Julian Colbeck (worked with Yes spin-off Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe). The album was compiled from two concerts at Koseinenkin Hall in Tokyo, Japan on 16 & 17 December 1996.

Esoteric Antenna is delighted to announce the release of a new 2 CD and DVD live album by Djabe & Steve Hackett; “The Journey Continues”. This wonderful concert recording was mainly recorded in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary in August 2019. The concert continued a series of live performances that followed the release of the acclaimed collaboration between Djabe (one of Hungary’s most acclaimed Jazz groups) and former Genesis guitarist and acclaimed solo artist Steve Hackett; “Life is a Journey: The Sardinia Tapes”, an album which was the result of improvised sessions that took place in a church on the island of Sardinia.
A blues album by prog rocker and classically trained guitarist Steve Hackett? It may seem a bit of a surprise, but as Hackett himself explains, his first musical affinity was for the blues, and his first instrument of choice was the harmonica, not the guitar. So he returns to his roots on this release, unknown as they are to most of his audience. Most of the songs are original compositions, and the tunes are well written. Hackett plays a mean harmonica throughout, and shines in particular on a couple of instrumental numbers, "A Blue Part of Town" and "Footloose" (mercifully not the Kenny Loggins song). Hackett sings lead vocals on the other songs, and unfortunately his voice just doesn't lend much conviction to blues material, even though it's treated to sound much deeper and grittier…
Djabe & Steve Hackett line-up made up for the 2020 and 2021 tour postponed due to Covid in 2022. The musicians eagerly awaited to make music together, so on the tour the band was very much together and gave their best performances of all time. At the final stop of the tour, the band also recorded a video, the post-production of which, as usual, was done by Tamás Barabás and Attila Égerházi. The concert, which can be found on Blu-ray, includes several tracks performed live for the first time. Examples include Lake By The Sea from the Back To Sardinia album, the rock band version of Ace Of Wands from the Voyage Of The Acolyte album, or the Gyor Blues compositions. There are several live versions of Steve Hackett and Djabe compositions previously not released on a Djabe & Steve Hackett live albums. Songs like The Steppes, Witchi Tai To, Gyor and Power Of Wings.
