This LP features pianist Chick Corea, bassist Dave Holland and drummer Barry Altschul during the brief period that, along with Anthony Braxton, they were members of the fine avant-garde quartet Circle. The music heard on this set is not quite as free as Circle's but often very explorative. Four of the six songs are Corea originals which, in addition to Holland's 'Vedana' and Wayne Shorter's 'Nefertiti,' form a very viable set of adventurous jazz, recorded just a few months before Corea changed direction.

Rock / Jam Band / Blues Rock / Southern Rock

2016 live archive release from the southern rockers. Live From A&R Studios: New York, August 26, 1971 was initially a radio broadcast that originally aired on WPLJ. This set features the band steamrolling through a set of songs including "Statesboro Blues, " "Trouble No More, " "One Way Out, " "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and "Hot 'lanta." The recording was widely bootlegged, but has been remixed from the original multi-track recording. The quality, dynamic performance and ambience encompassed herein all at once make for a quite staggering sonic experience, one that fans of this legendary act in it's original line-up will relish alongside the groups other essential releases.

Procol Harum is arguably the most successful "accidental" group creation – that is, a band originally assembled to take advantage of the success of a record created in the studio – in the history of progressive rock. With "A Whiter Shade of Pale" a monster hit right out of the box, the band evolved from a studio ensemble into a successful live act, their music built around an eclectic mix of blues-based rock riffs and grand classical themes.

Founded in Germany during the late 60's, Hairy Chapter is a solid acid-garagey-free rockin band. This is reminiscence to the most marvellous krautrock acts (Amon Düül II, Guru Guru, Agitation Free, My solid Ground…). In 1969 they recorded the obscure Electric Sound for Dancing LP, followed by the catchy heavy-psychedelic called eyes (1970). In 1971 they recorded what is considered to be their most successful album (Can't Get Through). It has been produced by Dieter Dirks (Nektar, Ashra Tempel, Wallenstein, Passport…). The album features a collection of tripped out-blasting bluesy kraut improvs / songs, including some discreet acoustic ethno vibes.

It Ain't Easy features a British blues/rock lineup befitting the man behind the Long John Baldry moniker. This album returns Baldry to a decidedly edgier and hipper audience, with a literal cast of all-stars on some of the more adventurous material he had covered to date. This is no doubt due, at least in part, to the involvement of rock superstars Rod Stewart and Elton John. (In fact, John confesses to have taken the last name in his stage moniker from Baldry's first.) Among their contributions to the project, Stewart and Elton divided the production tasks each taking a side of the original album.
