Superb collection of Janis' best broadcasts. After splitting from Big Brother, Joplin formed new backup group, the Kozmic Blues Band, composed of session musicians. The band was influenced by the Stax-Volt rhythm and blues bands of the 60s. By early 69, Janis was allegedly shooting at least $200 worth of heroin per day. The Kozmic Blues Band performed on several American television shows with Joplin. On the Tom Jones show, they performed Little Girl Blue and Raise Your Hand, the latter with Jones singing a duet with Joplin. On one episode of The Dick Cavett Show, they performed Try (Just a Little Bit Harder) as well as To Love Somebody.

Fabulous collection of Gong French TV appearances. The DVD is relatively short and covers two distinct periods of the band. It includes some of the earliest known footage of the band playing live for French television circa 1971 and 72. Watching the band live must have been a real experience as they took the art of drug induced hippiness to the next level. The band performs four tracks of their signature jazz/space rock jams including "Never Fight Another War", "Dreamin It", "Dynamite" and "Foghat Digs Holes In Space". Spacey synth work, ripping bass runs and the vocal caterwauling of Gilli Smyth and Allen is all included for your enjoyment. That is, if you like your music of the somewhat bizarre variety. The performances are good and offer a rare glimpse of the band in those early years…

This was Iggy in his truest form, climbing up from the bottom. There was something about the way he screamed "I got a right" that let you know, he certainly did and he worked it for all it was worth. Maybe not the best production of it's time but still the most honest…

“It‘s been a long journey from 1977. I used to think that punk rock was a one-off protest movement, but sadly now in 2018 there is even more to protest about. The punk spirit lives on. In “Land Of The Overdose” I‘ve tried to sum up everything I feel about what‘s wrong with the world and what we can do about it. The only compensation for me about the awful state we find ourselves in is that it‘s inspired me to come up with some of the best songs I‘ve ever written. I hope this album sends out a positive message that if we recognise the problems in the world things can start to change for the better, and that music can be a force for the good.”
