Third album, recorded in 1993, by Ali Farka Touré for the English of World Circuit, The Source marks a pivotal moment in the career of the legendary Malian guitarist. For the first time he is surrounded by his close guard, the group Asco, which includes Afel Bocoum singing and Hama Sankare Oumar Toure and chorus and percussion. But these musicians who will remain with him until the end of his life (2006) are not the only ones to highlight the song and the precious riffs of the leader of what we call, in spite of himself, the desert blues.

"Duke Ellington recognized Jimmy Hamilton as both a talented clarinetist and composer and featured him extensively during his quarter century in the band. Swing Low Sweet Clarinet, a 1960 session for Everest, features the clarinetist leading a small group drawn primarily from Ellington's band, including tenor saxophonist Paul Gonsalves, Booty Wood and Britt Woodman (heard on baritone horns instead of their usual trombones), bassist Aaron Bell, and drummer Sam Woodyard, while adding non-Ellington musicians Jimmy Rowles on piano, Dave Wells on baritone horn, and John Anderson on trumpet.

Jason Yates has released his sophomore solo album on Vapor Records. The self-titled set, recorded at Manny Nieto's Estudio in East L.A., was produced by Yates along with Nieto and Shane Smith. If the name Jason Yates isn't instantly recognizable, the sound of his Hammond B3 is surely familiar: Jason has played in touring bands for Macy Gray and Natalie Merchant. His keys have graced sessions with a diverse collection of artists - from Taj Mahal to Mazzy Star, G. Love, Michael Franti, and Toots & the Maytals, to name but a few. For the past five years, Jason was a member of Ben Harper's band the Innocent Criminals, a stint that included a Grammy-winning collaboration with the Blind Boys of Alabama on the 2004 disc There Will Be A Light.
