To some he's the godfather, to others he's the king. Long before bedroom recording became an aesthetic choice, R Stevie Moore built a legend of pop experimentalism, home recording, and mystic curmudgeonry. Equal parts songwriter, improviser, composer, producer, filmmaker, artist, and comedy writer, the self-taught Tennessean polymath has released hundreds of homemade albums since the '60s–and inspired a thousand times more. Rather than pose and slither in the music biz, Moore opted for a more genuine life and a spot on the staff at legendary indie radio station WFMU, sharing Bedroom Radio with the world. His independent streak extends to his record releases, the R. Stevie Moore Cassette Club successful and long-lasting enough that it became the R. Stevie Moore CD-R Club.

A pivotal moment in the development of southern soul – as the album was one of the first really big hits to come out of the growing Malaco scene in Jackson, Mississippi. The style of the record is a mix of older female southern soul styles, plus some of the warmer mellow production that was coming out of the Alston/Miami scene at the same time. And although Malaco mostly moved into cheesy blues during the early 80s, this one's very much in a popular crossover soul style. Features the title hit "Misty Blue", plus "It's So Good", "Too Much Love", "Ain't That A Mother's Luck", "Enough Woman Left (To Be Your Lady)", and "The Only Time You Ever Say You Love Me".

Florida-born soul singer Jackie Moore began her recording career in 1968 with singles on the Shout and Wand labels; however it was her first release for Atlantic Records in early 1970 that catapulted her to national prominence in the U.S with a song written by Jackie and her cousin Dave Crawford, who produced it that started out as the B-side to her debut single for the label. The label selected the brass-laden Willpower but a radio disc jockey flipped the record, got immediate reaction and Jackie ended up with a gold record in the form of Precious, Precious, a lilting, gentle slice of Southern soul that remains a timeless R&B classic.

Think of the one-shot Seattle supergroup Mad Season as the grunge version of sober living. Guitarist Mike McCready, best known as the main six-string slinger in Pearl Jam, met bassist John Baker Saunders while in rehab, and the two paired with Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin and Alice in Chains' vocalist Layne Staley, partially in hopes of steering the singer onto the path of the straight and narrow. Ultimately, the plan didn't pan out but for a brief while, the quartet – who adopted the name Mad Season – did have their moment of clarity, captured on the 1995 album Above.

There was a single issued to modern rock radio - "River of Deceit" - but this record downplayed easy hooks and melody in favor of churning introspection and slow vamps that occasionally flirt with blues (the never-ending 12-bar "Artificial Red," balanced by the distorto riffs of "I Don't Everything"), but usually conjure nothing more than the dank sludge of Seattle…

Remember that Night directed by David Mallet was filmed over three nights, May 29, 30 and 31, 2006 at London's beautiful Royal Albert Hall during Gilmour's short tour promoting his latest project On An Island. Featuring songs from this latest project, and some Pink Floyd hits as well, Gilmour delivers an exciting performance that delights and mesmerizes the engaged audience throughout the concert. Gilmour also brought several guest stars onstage in the form of David Crosby, Graham Nash, and David Bowie who I almost did not recognize. David is backed by the same group of musicians that joined him on his last tour, except for Nick Mason. Also joining Gilmour is British jazz musician Robert Wyatt who plays a beautiful rendition of "Then I Close My Eyes".
