DYNAMIC 1971 BROADCAST BY ALVIN LEE & TEN YEARS AFTER One of the biggest blues/rock acts on the planet between 1969 and 1974, Ten Years After could attribute their far-reaching success to two things: Promoter Bill Graham and their appearance in the landmark music documentary Woodstock. Graham was among the earliest U.S. promoters to book the band, and he made them a staple act at both Fillmores, East and West.

Ssssh was Ten Years After's new release at the time of their incendiary performance at the Woodstock Festival in August, 1969. As a result, it was their first hit album in the U.S., peaking at number 20 in September of that year. This recording is a primer of British blues-rock of the era, showcasing Alvin Lee's guitar pyrotechnics and the band's propulsive rhythm section. As with most of TYA's work, the lyrics were throwaways, but the music was hot. Featured is a lengthy cover of Sonny Boy Williamson's "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl," with reworked lyrics leaving little doubt as to what the singer had in mind for the title character.

MP3 @ 320 | 174 MB | Covers
Genre: Rock

Recorded live in Amersterdam and Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Frankfurt, Germany; Paris, France.
Originally released as a double LP set, RECORDED LIVE … Full Descriptionwas a response to the proliferation of bootlegs of the band's concerts. It was to be as faithful a representation of the band's onstage firepower as possible. In this regard, it succeeds; it's better recorded than their breakthrough UNDEAD, and the performances are generally stronger.
The highpoint is the jazzy, nearly 16-minute assault on "I Can't Keep From Crying." (Historical note: On the Blues Project's REUNION IN CENTRAL PARK album, also released in 1973, Al Kooper, who wrote the song, tells the audience that Ten Years After's version paid for his new car that year). There are also enthusiastic run-throughs of the band's best known numbers, including their salacious take on "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" and (of course) their Woodstock showstopper "I'm Going Home."
