One of the great things about Bo Diddley, something that often goes unmentioned, is that he was a home-recording pioneer, building his own studio years before any other rocker. The full fruits of this labor can be heard on Ride On: The Chess Masters, Vol. 3 1960-1961, Hip-O Select's third installment in their complete Bo Chess/Checker masters and easily the weirdest set yet. All 54 songs here were recorded over the course of 13 months: a whopping 17 them have never been released (an additional seven have never seen release in the U.S.), every one of them was cut in his home studio in Washington DC, and not a one reached the charts.

After nearly 10 years as Argo, the name of Chess Records’ jazz imprint was supposed to be the only thing about it that changed. But as Cadet Records assumed its new identity in the mid-’60s, the influence of the dawning psychedelic era, a boom of recording technology advances and, crucially, the arrival of a cadre of eager artists and brilliant producers put the label on a new, bewildering course to greatness. Tragic circumstances would bring about the label’s unraveling almost as rapidly as its meteoric rise, but not before Cadet released some of most audacious, boundary-pushing jazz, soul, blues and rock albums of the ’60s and ’70s — music that’s inspired generations of superstars, DJs and cratediggers ever since.

Albert began playing guitar at an early age. His uncle, the legendary Piano Red, noticed that Albert was actually playing self-made chords on a ukulele at the age of nine. Red sent Albert to take lessons from his guitarist, Wesley Jackson. Albert and his friend Marion Smith were soon camped out in front of juke joints, playing and singing for tips.
In early 1962, Albert became the bandleader for Piano Red’s “Dr. Feelgood and the Interns.” Red had scored a hit with his song “Dr. Feelgood” and dressed his band in intern jackets and nurses uniforms. One of the “nurses” was Beverly “Guitar” Watkins who became a lifelong friend to Albert. When Red disbanded, Albert joined the “Tams” from the late 60’s to the early 70’s, and by the mid 70’s, joined Hank Ballard and the midnighters. In recent decades, Albert’s own sound emerged, gigging with musicians in Atlanta, Georgia. Albert is currently touring the globe with the Music Maker Revue with his blues that makes everybody “Feel good."

Let's Talk About It is the second album by American R&B singer Carl Thomas. It was released by Bad Boy Records on March 23, 2004 in the United States. Originally scheduled for a late 2003 release, the album was delayed several months due to Bad Boy Records entering into a new distribution deal with Universal Records. The album debuted and peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200 and was later certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Promotion of Let's Talk About It was cut short due to Thomas' brother being gunned down several months after the album's release. The album was one of many albums released on Bad Boy Records that underperformed under the Universal distribution deal. As a result, Thomas left the label in 2005, while Bad Boy left Universal for a distribution deal with Atlantic Records in the same year.
