The Beginning Of The End

It was not until the beginning of the year that Fury In The Slaughterhouse released a best-of-album with some new songs to coincide with their 30th anniversary. Now, Kai Wingenfelder, Thorsten Wingenfelder, Christof Stein-Schneider, Rainer Schumann, Gero Drnek and Christian Decker will present another highlight for their fans: the new concert album »Little Big World: Live & Acoustic«. The Acoustic album was recorded live at the end of April in the Hamburger Grünspan. 23 songs are waiting, including many Fury classics. In addition, some exciting guests are waiting for »Little Big World: Live & Acoustic«, for example producer Mousse T. and Kölschrocker Wolfgang Niedecken.

Completely Well was B.B. King's breakthrough album in 1969, which finally got him the long-deserved acclaim that was no less than his due. It contained his signature number, "The Thrill Is Gone," and eight other tunes, six of them emanating from King's pen, usually in a co-writing situation. Hardliners point to the horn charts and the overdubbed strings as the beginning of the end of King's old style that so identifiably earmarked his early sides for the Bihari Brothers and his later tracks for ABC, but this is truly the album that made the world sit up and take notice of B.B. King. The plus points include loose arrangements and a small combo behind him that never dwarfs the proceedings or gets in the way. King, for his part, sounds like he's having a ball, playing and singing at peak power. This is certainly not the place to start your B.B. King collection, but it's a nice stop along the way before you finish it.

Goombay Dance Band is a German band created in 1979 by Oliver Bendt, named after a small bay on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. Their music has a distinctive sound (somewhat similar to Boney M), which is a mixture of soca, calypso and western pop. The group enjoyed greatest commercial success at the beginning of the 1980s, spawning such number 1 hits as "Sun of Jamaica", "Seven Tears" and "Aloha-Oe, Until We Meet Again". Goombay Dance Band built up a fan base across Europe and proved very popular in South Africa too, where "Sun of Jamaica" and "Aloha-Oe" entered the charts…
