Formed in London in 1976 by Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, and Paul Simonon at the outset of that city’s punk rock boom, The Clash went on to outlast their peers and create some of the most influential albums in rock ’n’ roll—not just punk—even breaching the mainstream in 1982 and earning the title “The Only Band That Matters” along the way. In their eight-year career, The Clash offered six CBS Records studio releases, including one double and one triple LP, and increasingly melded influences ranging from rockabilly to ska, reggae, and even hip-hop into their sound.

Men at Work were one of the more surprising success stories of the new wave era, rocketing out of Australia in 1982 to become the most successful artist of the year. With its Police-styled rhythms, catchy guitar hooks, wailing saxophones, and off-kilter sense of humor, the band's debut album, Business as Usual, became an international blockbuster, breaking the American record for the most weeks a debut spent at the top of the charts. Their funny, irreverent videos became MTV favorites, helping send "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Down Under" to number one. Men at Work's momentum sustained them through their second album, 1983's Cargo, before the bottom fell out of the band's popularity. After releasing Two Hearts in 1985, Men at Work broke up, becoming one of the better-remembered phenomena of new wave.

Essentially a solo venture, Recoil began whilst Wilder was still in Depeche Mode as an outlet for his experimental, less pop-oriented compositions. Once he announced his departure from the group in 1995, Recoil was transformed from a small side-project into Wilder's primary musical enterprise.

The Boys – The Boys… On Safari (2020) Music

Five CD box set covering legendary Punk band The Boys' period with Safari Records between 1979-81. Disc 1 is the band's third studio album To Hell With The Boys which reached #4 in the Independent Chart in early 1980 and features the Indie Chart hit singles 'Kamikaze' (#9) and 'Terminal Love' (#32). The second disc is 1981's Boys Only album which features the singles 'You'd Better Move On' and 'Weekend'. Disc 3 is a 22 track Rarities round-up containing eight previously unreleased studio demos alongside non LP B-sides and rare mixes. The fourth disc is the X rated Christmas Album issued under the name The Yobs, which now has three added bonus tracks. Long out of print on vinyl or CD and currently an expensive collector's item. The final disc is an In Concert recording for the BBC in 1980.

The Pixies are an American alternative rock band that formed in Boston in 1986. The group disbanded in 1993.
