The Invitation

The Whiskey Bayou Session was produced by Tab Benoit with all eleven songs recorded in the cypress & moss covered setting on the bank of Cane Bayou (French: Ouiski Bayou) in Houma, Louisiana. With all the makings of a classic roots record it is Damon's unique guitar, Lap Steel guitar style, soulful vocals and vivid songwriting that stand at the forefront of this recording. The record was recorded at a bittersweet time in Damon's career. Still struggling through his friend, mentor, and band leader Allman Brothers Butch Trucks untimely death and the uncertainty after life with Butch Truck's Freight Train Band Damon received the invitation to play guitar in Allman Brothers Dickey Bett’s Band. The Whiskey Bayou Session is as personal as it gets.

In this introduction to the heart of the gospel, readers are invited to discover for themselves what Jesus has done for the world and continues to do in the world today. The invitation is offered in the form of daily readings from the four gospel accounts of Jesus' story. The story itself is preceded by suggestions for reading and background aids for understanding the world in which Jesus carried out his earthly ministry. This is followed by brief accounts of how others responded to Jesus, along with the authors' answers to commonly-asked questions about the Christian faith.

Edward Gardner is an English conductor. In his childhood he was a chorister at Gloucester Cathedral, and he took lessons in clarinet, piano, and organ. After graduating from the King's School and Eton College, he attended the University of Cambridge as a choral scholar in the celebrated King's College Choir. He developed an interest in conducting at Eton and Cambridge, and pursued it at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied under Colin Metters and graduated in 2000.
